APEC gets up to 8.5Gbps connection from PLDT

Asia-Pacific Economic Council (APEC) meetings in Metro Manila are in for a treat from the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) as the telecom-giant in the Philippines will provide up to 8.5Gbps of internet connection for the 8,000 delegates of the said event.

As said in a press release posted on the company’s website, the key areas of the summit in Manila has been furnished with fast internet. Starting off with the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), PLDT is giving 3Gbps of fiber connectivity with 100 units of top-notch access points throughout the area. International and local media at the nearby World Trade Center, on the other hand, can get access to through PLDT’s I-Gate service.

Even when not in meetings, delegates can use their hotel’s Wi-Fi service seamlessly as PLDT gives a boost to their services of up to 100Mbps.

As for consumers, PLDT has started offering 1Gbps service to select areas as they continue to roll out next-generation internet speed with their fiber network.

PLDT HOME Fibr today launches the country’s first Gigabyte plan and promises symmetrical speed for equal upload and download speeds, among other things.

Using fiber-optic technology which is branded as the world standard for broadband, PLDT aims to deliver the fastest plan and boasts its first symmetrical speed service — meaning it should eliminate the kind of connection wherein you have a relatively high download speed, but drops when it comes to uploading.

PLDT HOME VP and HOME Marketing Director Gary Dujali said, “These massive speed boosts and the new symmetrical speeds combined with our unparalleled offers let our subscribers experience the ultimate digital lifestyle at the comforts of their home. Plans start at Php1,899 for an Internet connection hitting up to 1Gbps. Fibr is now available in over 1,600 Fibr-powered villages nationwide including Valle Verde 1-6, Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village, and Ayala Alabang Village, to name a few.

PLDT Home and Smart Launches iFLIX in PH

The partnership between iFlix and MVP-owned companies PLDT Home and Smart Communications has finally come into fruition as the Southeast Asia’s leading internet TV service finally hits Philippines.

PLDT Home and Smart subscribers can enjoy unlimited streaming for Php99 a month and choose from a wide range of movies and TV series from iFlix’s top studio partners which include Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. just to name some.

iFlix is available to all existing PLDT Home DSL and PLDT Home Ultera subscribers, not to mention Smart postpaid and prepaid users, as an add-on option. The iFlix subscription fee (Php99) will be added on top of the user’s monthly amortization or deducted from their prepaid load (for Smart prepaid subs).

On the other hand, PLDT Home subscribers who’ve upgraded to TVolution or Telpad plans, as well as existing Fibr Plan subscribers can get iFlix at no extra charge.
