ZTE AXON Mini launches with Force Touch

While the new iPhones are flaunting its pressure-sensitive tech called Force Touch, it’s not Apple who actually unveiled such wonder to the consumers, it was ZTE back in July 2015.

The ZTE AXON mini has a pressure-sensitive 5.2-inch Super AMOLED Full HD 2.5D curved-edge display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor, Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage with expansion via microSD (up to 128GB), and a 2,800mAh battery.

It can capture photos with its 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus, or 8-megapixel front camera. There is support for Hi-Fi audio playback and recording. All these are encased inside an aircraft-grade aluminum-titanium alloy body.

If you’re worried about privacy and security, the smartphone offers three biometric authentication solutions — fingerprint, voice recognition, and eye-scan.

The AXON mini will be available in Ion Gold and Chromium Silver for US$ 379 (around Php 17,500), and
Rose Gold for US$ 399 (around Php 18,300). There’s a “Premium Edition” for US$ 439 but no details were mentioned about it, and an “NBA version” that includes NBA content out-of-the-box with no specific pricing.

Consumers can purchase in China through ZTE’s own MyZTE store, JD.com, and retail outlets. In the coming months, the ZTE AXON mini will be available in Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Russia, Japan, India, Australia, France, Germany, Turkey, Spain and Italy.

ZTE AXON Watch to be available in China this month

Unveiled last July, the AXON Watch is ZTE’s own smartwatch.

First off, it runs Tencent OS, not Android Wear, on a 1.4-inch circular display that is protected by Gorilla Glass and sapphire coating. 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM is on board along with a 300mAh battery. The smartwatch can connect with smartphones through Bluetooth 4.1.

ZTE Axon Mini specs revealed, has Force Touch technology

ZTE has announced a couple of handsets under the Axon series and one of them is the Axon Mini. It was teased by only revealing it would have a Force Touch initially seen on Apple’s Macbook and is expected to be seen on the iPhone 6S.

That was the case until it was reported to pass TENAA and FCC certification that not only revealed its list of specs, but also means it would be ready for launching any time soon.

ZTE Axon Mini reported specs:

Force Touchscreen
1.5GHz octa-core processor
3GB RAM
16GB internal storage
Expandable via microSD
8MP rear camera

With the iPhone 6S arriving early this September and is anticipated to sport its own Force Touch function, it’s up to ZTE to decide if they would release their Axon Mini before Apple does — bagging the title for the first smartphone to have the said feature.
