A Xiaomi Executive has revealed that the Mi5 will be launching on February 24.

Earlier leaks indicate the Xiaomi Mi 5 to sport a Snapdragon 820 chip and 2.5D curved display glass with an integrated fingerprint sensor on the home button. The Mi5 is expected to retail for around $360 although we’re not sure if it will be also officially released in the Philippines.

Xiaomi reported to announce new Mi5 this January

A report from the Economic Daily News (EDN) states that Xiaomi Technology is about to introduce an update to its very successful Mi4. The new Mi5 should come out this January with beefed up specs from its predecessor.

Some of Xiaomi Mi5’s rumored specs include a 5.7-inch QHD display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, and a fingerprint sensor for identification.

As for how much the new handset will cost, there’s a big possibility that they will maintain the same pricing for this new flagship as the Mi4 when it was launched in order to stay competitive against other Chinese brands. EDN tells us that the new device would make its official debut this January at CES Las Vegas.

In addition, the report also states that the LG G Flex 2 as well as the Xperia Z4 will join Mi5 in the announcement. Stay tuned as we wait for official announcements.
