In a surprising turn of events, it appears that all is not lost for Winamp as its parent company, AOL, is reported to be negotiating with Radionomy for a possible acquisition of the popular media player along with an online music service called SHOUTcast.
Late last year, we’ve reported that Winamp is all prepped up to bite the dust on December 20, leaving a fruitful 15-year legacy in the process. But Radionomy, a Belgium-based online radio station aggregator, saw that Winamp and SHOUTcast with its 45,000 stations under its belt will be a great addition to their portfolio.
According to TechCrunch, all the legalities of the acquisition are expected to be finalized last Friday, but up to now there’s no official word how the negotiation went. In any case, you can still download the latest version of Winamp from their website.
