What Time Machine does is it aggregates all your check-ins on Foursquare, beautifully maps them out and then shows you the connections between them in animated form. Here are the features of Foursquare Time Machine:

* Zoom through time and space as you visualize all your check-ins
* Discover all the places you should head to next
* Save and share pretty infographics of all your stats

Other than that, it also shows you details like exact date of check-ins, map coordinates, and statistics like favorite check-in spots, and total distance traveled.

#Facebook #adds #hashtag #support

Zuckerberg-owned social networking site announced its plans of making it easier for a user to find contents of a particular interest and/or be part of large discussion by including hashtag support which was made popular by Twitter.

facebook hashtag

According to the firm, hashtags on Facebook will work similarly on other social media platforms that have adopted it wherein it’s both clickable and searchable. Moreover, it allows users to compose posts directly from the hashtag feed and click hashtags from other SNS like Instagram.

Introducing Hashtags on Facebook

Starting today, hashtags will be clickable on Facebook. Similar to other services like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, hashtags on Facebook allow you to add context to a post or indicate that it is part of a larger discussion. When you click on a hashtag in Facebook, you’ll see a feed of what other people and Pages are saying about that event or topic.

-Greg Lindlet, Product Manager Facebook

Facebook’s decision to include hashtag support is just another example of how they and their rival, Twitter, are taking pages from each other’s books to further improve their services. In fact, not too long ago, Facebook changed “Subscribe” to “Follow” which led to the change from “Subscribers” to “Followers”, and we all know where that came from.

It’s been said that #Hashtag support on Facebook will initially be rolled out to 20-percent of its users and they’re expecting to finish the whole thing in the next coming weeks.

Online tools to help you find your Voting Precinct

The 2013 election is fast approaching and if you haven’t had the time to check the place where you’ll cast your votes, worry not because there’s a pair of sites that you can visit to find out your designated voting precinct.

Of the two online precinct finders, the one that came from COMELEC (Commission on Election) is a bit more tedious to use as it requires voters to fill in their full name and complete date of birth. We say tedious because some people who have two or more first names (ex. John Michael, Maria Christina) may have some difficulty in using the site because the entries in required fields should match the information that they’ve provided during voter’s registration.

google find your precinct

The one from Google , which was also used back in 2010 election, is easier as you’d only have to input the Region/City and Precinct Number. However, the one from COMELEC can provide you with more information other than your designated voting precinct unlike the one from Google.

It’s cool that COMELEC and even Google are making strides to help the upcoming election as hassle-free as possible. But finding your voting precinct is just the tip of the iceberg, weaving your way from hundreds of voters and going through the whole process is whole another story. Well, at least we have one aspect squared away, right?

Facebook to launch $1M per day video ads

Facebook is really doing its best to cash out on its massive user base through ads. First by sugar-coating it with cool features like, let’s see.. uhmm.. Facebook Home?? Then eventually bombarding users with ads in the near future. While I don’t blame Facebook for doing such as it lets you use its services for free, the social media titan is planning a more invasive way of blasting ads on your face through Timeline video ads.

facebook

Video formats are yet to be finalized but according to AdAge, it can be “presented in a video player that expands beyond the main news-feed real estate to cover the right- and left-hand rails of users’ screens on the desktop version of Facebook.” A mobile version was also reported to be in the works. The ads will be capped at 3 per day, each lasting 15 seconds and will be targeting users from four categories: women over 30, women under 30, men over 30, and men under 30.

These type of ads are more likely to cater companies with huge marketing budgets as Facebook was reported to have an ad rate of at least $1 million PER DAY.
