LG G Watch R officially announced

LG Electronics has officially announced in Seoul, South Korea the G Watch R, the company’s new wearable that features a 1.3-inch full circle display and powered by Android Wear.

The LG G Watch R comes in black and features a durable stainless steel frame and an interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap.

Asus smartwatch to be unveiled at IFA 2014

Just after the report of having an immediate successor to the LG G Watch, Taiwanese-brand Asus now teases us with its upcoming smartwatch.

Asus posted this teaser photo on its Facebook page. As always, a teaser will be a teaser. From what we can tell, the Asus smartwatch has a metallic frame and will come with a square interface.

Details are expected to come soon. For now, we can expect this device to make an appearance at IFA 2014 in Berlin on September 3 so stay tuned.

LG G Watch 2 might come next month

The successor to the two-month old Android Wear device, the LG G Watch 2, is already cooking and it is said to be a great competitor to the alleged Apple smartwatch.

According to Korea Times, the next-generation LG G Watch is a “serious game changer” wearable. LG is working to have a September announcement for the new smartwatch wherein the IFA 2014 will commence in Berlin. The report says the IFA fair might just be the venue for the showcase, not for consumers, but for its clients.

Details about the LG G Watch 2 is still limited. Rumors claim that it will feature an OLED display versus the IPS LCD of the current generation plus a Qualcomm processor.

Misfit Shine launched in the Philippines for Php6,850

PowerMac today launched a new activity monitor called the Misfit Shine. This watch functions as an activity monitor and sleep monitor that is waterproof up to 50 meters.

It comes with an app for iPhone and Android phones. The battery can last up to 6 month on one full charge. That’s probably the longest we’ve seen on any wearable.

The built-in Bluetooth syncs with your smartphone wirelessly to transmit data that monitors steps, calories burned, distance, sleep quality and duration. You can wear it as a watch, clip it or hang it like a necklace.

The Misfit Shine is available in stores for Php6,850.

Timex Ironman One GPS+ comes with 3G

Timex is getting into the wearable market with a stand-alone smartwatch. The Timex Ironman One GPS+ doesn’t need to pair with your smartphoneas it comes with its own built-in GPS and 3G radio.

The Ironman One GPS+ looks like any other Ironman watch from Timex but has more things to go for it.

One is the always-on Mirasol display (manufactured by Qualcomm for their Toq smartwatch) and cellular capabilities like simple SMS functions.

The GPS is capable of live-tracking your location and running course when you go for a jog. The 4GB internal storage can store media files and can stream music to your wireless earphones via Bluetooth.

The watch can last up to 3 days on normal use or about 8 hours when everything else (3G, GPS) is activated.

The Ironman One GPS+ will sell for $399.
