HTC Vive, the “most immersive VR”, gets international prices

Touted as the most immersive experience of any VR (virtual reality) package, the HTC Vive was made in partnership with Valve and involves a Full Room Scale 360 Degree solution so players can get up and go around exploring the actual room and interact with the surroundings.

As mentioned during its announcement, it has high-quality graphics, 90fps video, and some serious hi-fi audio going on to give the player a totally immersive gameplay.

The HTC Vive is currently priced at $799 in the US, NT$28,288 in Taiwan, and JPY111,999 in Japan so that roughly translates to about Php38K when directly converted to our local currency.

Pre-orders start today, February 29, with shipping to roll-out in April. It comes with two wireless VR controllers and two Vive base stations.

Oculus Rift up for Pre-Order at $599

The Oculus Rift is now available for pre-order and will starting shipping to 20 countries on March 28.

Included in the box upon purchase are the Virtual Reality headset itself w/ built-in headphones and microphone, the sensor, an Xbox One controller, and the new Oculus Remote. The remote is said to be designed for simple and intuitive navigation of the Oculus store, explore 360 video content, or experience VR games and entertainment.

If you pre-order the Oculus Rift, you can grab an Oculus Ready PC bundle by February starting a $1499 and also, secure a place in line for pre-ordering the Touch controller later this year and.

With the pre-order, you get Lucky’s Tale and access to EVE: Valkyrie through the Founder’s Pack, which includes exclusive in-game content, founder status, and many more. Furthermore, a lot of game titles will be available before 2016 ends.

The 20 countries in the list of shipping are Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States. Pricing is at $599 or around Php28,200 when converted.

Project Morpheus VR arriving early 2016

Recent reports suggest that Sony‘s virtual reality headset Project Morpheus is coming early next year.

According to The Verge’s report from Wired, there were no exact price mentioned but it would be up for purchase for “several hundred dollars” in the first half of 2016. The company will also showcase about 20 VR samples during E3’s upcoming presentation.

In addition, the team told the sources that they’re trying to be diverse with the kind of gameplay one could experience on Project Morpheus. Some of these include:

  • First-person shooters
  • First-person exploration
  • Puzzle games
  • Relaxation games
  • Networked games
  • Games on 3D environment
