Toshiba has recently unveiled its latest ultrabook called the KIRAbook, a Windows 8 machine that sports a 13.3-inch 2560×1440 high-resolution display.
The Toshiba KIRAbook aims to take on Apple’s current top of the line Macs with its 13.3-inch PixelPure touchscreen display that packs a native resolution of 2560×1440 which equates to 221ppi – just a few pixels less than the MacBook Pro Retina Display’s 227ppi. Mounted on top of the display is Corning’s Concore Glass for damage resistance.
The KIRAbook also sports an Intel Core i5 (3337U) or i7 (3537U) processors, 8GB of RAM (1600 MHz), 256GB SSD, LED backlit keyboard, and Harman Kardon speakers. All of that in a “magnesium alloy and honeycomb-base” body that is just 0.7-inch thin and 2.6lbs light – lighter than the MacBook Air.
Three configurations will be available ranging from $1,600 MSRP to $2,000 MSRP and will be available in the US (Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Microsoft Store, B&H and Adorama, ToshibaDirect.com) starting May 12.
