Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga and Yoga 2 Pro are official

Lenovo’s Yoga line-up is one of those remarkable ultrabook form factors that made its way to the industry. Now, at IFA Berlin, we are able to set our eyes on the new ThinkPad Yoga & the Yoga 2 Pro.

Some of you might have noticed that instead of IdeaPad, Lenovo had injected the enterprise-centric brand ThinkPad before this Ultrabook. That’s because this one combines familiar elements from both series – the black industrial design, the red signature TrackPoint & of course, the ability to push the display forward to 360 degrees to turn it into a tablet.

A new system has been implemented by Lenovo here too. With their new Lift & Lock mechanism, the keys will now flatten on the back once you turn it into tablet mode. That will prevent a lot of damages & irritations with the keyboard.

The 12.5-inch 1080p display-packing ThinkPad Yoga goes up to Core i7 Haswell CPUs & 1TB storage.

Aimed towards consumers, the Yoga 2 Pro improves on a lot of aspects from its predecessors. It now features a 13-inch 3200 x 1800 display and will run on 4th gen Intel Core CPUs. Apart from that, the Yoga 2 Pro sacrifices the Lift & Lock Mechanism found on the ThinkPad for a lighter and thinner body at 15.5mm & 1.39kg.

We have already reviewed the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S, and our major gripes with it were the lack of a 1080p display & a backlit keyboard – which its successors have already fixed. It looks like we’re expecting a powerful set of Ultrabooks soon.

The Yogas will be available before the year ends in time for the holiday season. The ThinkPad Yoga starts at $949 while the Yoga 2 Pro will go for $1,099. That’s Php43k & Php49k respectively when converted. To add, Windows 8.1 will also be out by then.
