Inventive Ways to Use Your Venu XD 1070 Projector

The high-quality Venu XD 1070 projector is a popular choice for home theaters and business presentations. But the versatile projector’s ability to project pictures at high resolution on large surfaces means you can use it in many other creative ways, too. Since the XD 1070 is lightweight, you can bring it nearly anywhere. Take a look at some of the fun and interesting ways owners have used the XD 1070.

Holiday Illusions

Many families use their Venu XD 1070 projector during the holidays. However, instead of just showing festive movies, some families have projected images on windows, walls or large tapestries. One owner used his projector to play a video of scary scenes during Halloween on his window. Trick-or-treaters walked up to a playfully scary treat as they saw images of creepy shadows appearing inside the house.

Others have used their projectors during the festive winter holidays. During Christmas, some have projected decorations or a Christmas tree on a wall. This is especially useful in homes with limited space.

Special days like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day can be enhanced with special slideshows of the beloved parent via projector. Memorial Day celebrations may be accented with large video projections of American flags or family members in the armed services.

Backyard Movie Nights

Drive-in movies used to be great adventures in past generations. With the Venu XD 1070 projector you can enjoy such moments again from the comfort of your home. Simply hook up your projector and project onto a large backyard screen. Many families have even invited neighbors over for a movie night block party. Another idea is to use the event as a fundraiser for a youth sports team or other charity. There is nothing quite like an enjoyable movie under the stars.

Super Computer Monitor

Sometimes you get tired of working on your home or office computer. Why not project your PC or Mac onto the screen or wall for a super-sized monitor? Whether you are taking care of business or just having fun, the Venu XD 1070 projector can turn your computing into an adventure. Imagine watching funny YouTube videos, podcasts or other media on a 100-inch-plus. What’s more, examining a work project on a large screen can get the creative juice flowing.

These are just a few of the many creative ways you can use your Venu XD 1070 projector. Venu projectors allow you to set the size of the image and connect to HDMI sources. The projector also affords you more mobility than TVs. With these options at your fingertips, it will be easy for you to come up with your own inventive way to utilize your XD 1070.

Logitech T650 Wireless Touchpad review

My computer life has a dual personality. It consists of intimate bonding with the Mac at home and adapting to a Windows PC environment in the office. The advantage to this is that it has made me more versatile. Gladly, Windows 8 – the latest version developed by Microsoft – is touch-centric so that it doesn’t depart much from those of us who are accustomed to the interface of Apple products.

Thus, we have this review of The Logitech T650 Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad specially designed for a new generation of Windows computers using Windows 8. Weighing only 7.2 ounces, it is small and light enough to fit into the handiest bag.It is a handsome-looking, ergonomic device with the glossiest finish to respond to the most intuitive gesture. A lot of people have likened this to Apple’s Magic Trackpad and we kinda agree :)

Like most peripherals, the T650 has a plug & play functionality. The Unifying Receiver attached to the kit is essential for connecting the Touchpad to your computer. And if you so choose, you can also connect up to 6 compatible mice and keyboards as well using the same USB port.

The attached micro-USB cable, on the other hand, is for powering up the Touchpad when needed. Just plug one end to the T650 and the other to the PC and wait for the light to go green which means it’s charging.

From my experience, it was the hand gestures which needed to get used to.I knew clicking and pinching to zoom in or out from using the iPad and Mac but the other commands demanded some practice. The Touchpad recognizes 13 important gestures meant to navigate Windows 8 and its shortcuts. For example, swipe two fingers up, down or sideways or swipe three fingers to go to the Start Screen. Thankfully, the Logitech website has a useful guide to make you an expert of hand signs in due time.

I am still using the Touchpad as we speak and feel empowered to use a next-generation product that is so NOW. Prior to this, only the Mac fanboys were gloating at their fervent use of the trackpad. The smooth touch surface of the T650 is to be loved and envied. I never knew that a mouse could have the moves like Jagger :) If you’re into Windows 8 right now, an accessory like the Logitech T650 Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad is a nice, if not essential addition to your arsenal.

Samsung Galaxy S4: faster and more powerful!

So you’ve heard the news: the Samsung Galaxy S4 has landed and is now being offered in the postpaid plans of the leading telcos, Globe & Smart. It makes me wonder whether an S5 or S6 is in the works. And for those like me who wonder about the difference between the S4 and the S3, read more towards the end of this post.

Anyhow, here’s a photo collage of the Samsung Galaxy S4 launched we attended in Bonifacio Global City a couple of weeks ago. The S4 is an eye candy and the must-have smartphone of the summer season so naturally, Manila’s beautiful people were there during the event.

Here’s the phone’s close-up.It comes in the two basic colors now: Black Mist & White Frost. But there should be additional color options during the latter part of the year.

Samsung Galaxy S4

What’s easily noticed is the larger screen size which makes texts and images really come to life on the Full HD Super AMOLED display. In fact, some people are now saying that with the 5-inch screen size of the S4 (just a tad smaller than the Galaxy Note 2 at 5.5″), the S4 can be very well called a phablet (phone + tablet), thereby making it a real multi-tasking device for people who lead busy lifestyles.

So what will make you upgrade and switch to this phone? It is simply faster and more powerful. If you’re already an S3 user, for instance, processor speed is at a whopping 1.9 GHz quad core, the Android version is higher at Jelly Bean 4.2.2(from 4.1), battery capacity is stronger at 2,600 aMH, and there is an increase in rear camera quality from 8 mp to a stunning 13 megapixels! I would love to have this phone if only because I don’t need to bring my point and shoot anymore :)

Despite being power-packed, the S4 is also lighter than the S3 (130 grams as against the 133 g of old).

Suggested retail price of the phone as of its release date in the Philippines is P30,990

Cevo 4K by Toshiba is latest in TV technology

Toshiba is one of the oldest, if not the oldest TV brand we know. That is why I was glad to be apprised by them of the latest in TV technology in a launch recently. As a Pinoy, am one with the rest in believing that the bigger the screen and the brighter the picture, it’s okay already. The experts would advise buyers to be more concerned with the nitty gritty. They actually think the picture quality of the TV is a better gauge than the brightness component.

“Televisions are being made to create a wow feeling, the bigger the screen, the more excitement,” said Yuuji Motomura, brand manager for Toshiba Japan’s TV Division. “The problem though is that with bigger screens, even images shot in full HD can look pixelized. It is not enough that the TV screen is big – it also has to be equipped with the technology that maintains the high picture quality to enhance the viewing experience.”

Yuji Motomura, TV Brand Manager

For its new generation of TVs, Toshiba has launched Cevo 4K, its core technology for television which upgrades TV image quality, restores precision, and enables superior picture for contents like Blu-ray, HD TV and 4K video. It is an enhancement of the 4K video format first introduced by Toshiba in 2011. The big deal about 4K is its resolution that’s four times the pixels of full HD. To the regular viewer, this means onscreen images appear closest to the way they look in real life!

Abe Olandres & Paul Soriano

No less than noted commercial director Paul Soriano and top tech blogger Abe “Yuga” Olandres are saying positive words about Toshiba’s latest innovation.

Said Paul: “It isn’t easy to show true images on a television screen that best match real life color and consistency. Toshiba’s CEVO 4K technology is topnotch in terms of precision. The sense of detail and sharpness is excellent and the way it captures natural light and skin tones. If you’re the type who likes to watch videos in Blu Ray and TV programs that are broadcast in HD, it’s definitely something you’d want your TV to be equipped with. It will be a waste not to enjoy the full benefits of HD broadcast if your TV set is not at its optimum.”

On the other hand, Yuga who owns a Toshiba TV himself, said: “I can see how the CEVO 4K models will appeal to a set of consumers who expect a lot from their TV sets and enjoy the reality feel when watching. Those who have a strong appreciation of video technology will definitely want to get a hold of this.”

According to Toshiba people, most content currently available for the general public, such as commercial TV broadcast by global media outfits and movies distributed internationally, are shot in full HD, and 4K has begun to catch on.

In the Philippines, local TV networks still broadcast in standard definition but are expected to go into full HD in the next couple of years. These developments signal a shift, if not a mass migration, to more advanced TV models that will give justice to the hi-tech formats that they are produced in.
