The Force Band lets you control BB-8 using simple gestures

BB-8 has been easily one of the fan favorites when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released that’s why there’s been a lot of cool merchandise in the market featuring this droid. There’s the smartphone-controlled BB-8 that Globe offers and now a prototype of Sphero‘s Force Band has been demonstrated last CES that lets you control the toy just by using simple hand gestures.

The still-prototype Force Band by Sphero relies on its accelerometer to follow the movements of your arm and sends instructions to BB-8 via Bluetooth. With it, you can make BB-8 dance, spin, direct it where to go, give it a fist bump, and more.

This wearable was said to be coming sometime this year, but with no final price and release date as of yet. For now, enjoy the following demo video of your favorite droid maneuvered using the “Force”.

Google lets you choose your side of the Force with Star Wars promo

To further hype the nearing release of the new Star Wars film, Google launches its “Choose Your Side” promo that turns your platform into a movie-themed experience.

If you still haven’t heard, typing “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away” onto the Google search bar will turn the results to a Star Wars intro, crawling its way up on yellow font. That’s just a small slice of what Google has in store for the movie’s fans out there.

By visiting www.google.com/starwars, you can choose which side of the Force you want to pledge your allegiance to. Depending on what you select, your browser and other apps  will be revamped whether you’re on the light or dark side.

I chose to stick with the latter and be well on my way of becoming a Sith Lord and below are photos of what it looked like when opening a new tab or checking my Gmail:

The theme will be integrated across other Google apps like Maps (your car becomes a TIE fighter/X-wing) and Waze (C3PO’s voice would be the one guiding you). If you’re a fan of the purchase, you shouldn’t be even finishing this article and start choosing sides already. It’s pretty fun.

Turkish PM gives speech as a 10-foot hologram

What if you can’t attend a public meeting? What do you do? Turkish Prime Minister did it with tech and style by being a 10-foot hologram.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan wowed the public by appearing as a hologram that is roughly 10-feet in height a la Star Wars. The speech was pre-recorded since he won’t be able to attend the political party meeting.

Without further ado, let’s be amazed how the Prime Minister utilize technology to make his presence more valuable.

So when will we see local public meeting like this? Sure it is fun and modern to witness but it must contain substantial material, not bragging rights.
