Classic Ilonggo Dishes highlight the Tabu-an sa Kahilwayan Food Festival

I am very honored to have been invited to judge this year’s 2nd Tabu-an Western Visayas Ilonggo Heritage Cooking Competition and Food Fair. This year the food festival is hosted by the Municipality of Santa Barbara, Iloilo in time for the town’s fiesta celebration known as the Kahilwayan Festival. House of Cebu: Hotel and Art Gallery rolled into one!

No, this is not a hotel. This is an art gallery! I quipped in disbelief. The hotel lobby is really lovely. Interesting pieces can be found in every corner of The House of Cebu. A new Design Hotel. It has opened its opened its doors only early this year.

The House of Cebu hotel

The hotel is owned by the Filipino and German couple May & Detlef Ernst. The story started when the couple used to travel around the world. Finally decided to settle down in Cebu and built a hotel. They brought with them art pieces and collectible items they acquired during their journey.
