Sony has officially announced two new wearables in Berlin during IFA. The first one is the Sony Smartwatch 3, obviously on its 3rd generation and the other is the Smartband Talk fitness band.
Powered by Android Wear, the Smartwatch 3 runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and a 420mAH battery capacity that can last up to 2 days.
The Smartwatch 3 acts as a second smartphone screen and measures 1.6” with a 320×320-pixel TFT display (works like an e-paper display), comes with NFC, micro-USB and is waterproof IP68 rated. It comes with a waterproof case and can be paired to a wireless headset as stream music directly into it.
The Smartband Talk is more like a fitness tracker. It has 1.4-inch e-paper screen and can last up to 3 days on a single full charge. You can also use it to answer calls with its built-in microphone and speakers. It’s also is water and dust proof so you can probably take it for a swim just like the old Smartband.
The Smartwatch 3 will have a suggested retail price of €229 while the Smartband Talk is more affordable at €159. We expect both the Smartwatch 3 and the Smartband Talk will arrive in the 4th quarter along with the new Sony Xperia Z3.
