Facebook Live is now open for everyone to use

We’ve been seeing major brands and news outlets broadcasting live on Facebook for a few months now, and user feedback has been quite overwhelming. Now, Facebook is letting everyone broadcast live.

Facebook Live is now launched to every user on the massive social networking site. Through the use of their Mentions app for iOS and Android, anyone can broadcast real-time footage to their friends and public. Plus, Facebook has added more features to it.

You can no go Live in Facebook Groups and Events as well. This allows you to broadcast to a specific crowd and purpose. For example, in an event page, you can broadcast the happenings for those who can’t attend. There’s also Live reactions for fun and instant feedback and Live Filters to add effect on your video. Plus, there’s now the ability to send out an invitation to people watch with you.

Facebook is also rolling out a dedicated place to discover live videos categorized depending on topics or friends. Non-live videos will be available too when you just missed out the broadcast. Over 60 countries can now share live videos.

Account switching comes with Instagram update

Since last year, some Instagram users are able to enjoy multiple accounts logged into a single app. With the news 7.15 update released, Instagram rolls out account switching to all.

Having multiple accounts logged in will benefit those who have a couple of IG accounts used as personal or for business. To add an additional account, go to settings, scroll down, and choose Add Account. To switch, just tap your username at the top of the screen when in your profile and choose which account to use. Keep in mind that you can only add up to 5 accounts.

To have the said feature, all you have to do is update to the latest version of Instagram, which is 7.15. This is available on both major mobile platforms of iOS and Android. Just head to the App Store or Play Store and hit update.

Facebook started the roll out of its new notification tab in its smartphone app. The said tab is now personalized to the user, giving tailored information based on your interests and current location.

  • Friends’ birthdays and life events
  • Sports card and TV reminders
  • Upcoming events

Also, optional information can be added, including:

  • Happenings around you
  • Weather updates
  • Movies playing
  • Places to eat

Any additional or unwanted information can be added or removed through the settings. Just tap the arrow to the right of each card to access it. This new notification design of Facebook is greatly similar to Google Now, except that the latter is more mature and informative.

The update is gradually rolling out to both Android and iPhone Facebook app in the US. Other countries might follow soon.
