Just a little over a month after unveiling the last wave of Broadwell chips, Intel debuted the first two members of the 6th Generation Core processors lineup, namely the Intel Core i5-6600K and the Intel Core i7-6700K.
Following the company’s tick-tock credo, these new Skylake desktop chips are still going to be based on 14nm manufacturing process like the Broadwell processors before it. However, the new processors will feature the new LGA1151 socket and will be accompanied by the new Z170 chipset.
As signified by the“K” suffix, both the i5-6600K and the i7-6700K are unlocked and each of its four processing cores can be overclocked beyond its respective frequencies of 3.5GHz and 4.0GHz.
The Intel Core i5-6600K and the Intel Core i7-6700K are now available in the market with an SRP of $243 and $350, respectively.
Intel mentioned that other SKUs, along with locked processors, will be announced later this year.
