Singapore Airlines And Dairy Farm Singapore Launch Miles And Points Conversion Partnership

Singapore Airlines and Dairy Farm Singapore today announced a first for frequent flyers as well as shoppers in Singapore, enabling members of KrisFlyer and TapForMore, through PAssion Card, to convert their miles and points between the two loyalty programmes, bringing them even more benefits in the air and on the ground.

The new conversion capability enables KrisFlyer members to redeem their miles for TapForMore points to enjoy instant cash rebates when they shop at over 270 supermarkets and stores such as Cold Storage, Jasons, Market Place, Giant and Guardian with their PAssion Card.

TapForMore members can also redeem their TapForMore points for KrisFlyer miles, which can be used for flight upgrades, or for award flights on over 30 airlines including Singapore Airlines and SilkAir. KrisFlyer miles can also be combined with cash to pay for Singapore Airlines and SilkAir tickets on singaporeair.com.

The new conversion innovation, which is exclusive to the two loyalty programmes, will be made available to members from 21 January.

“We are thrilled to launch our first KrisFlyer partnership that offers members the option to redeem miles for non-flight products in Singapore, while also offering KrisFlyer and TapForMore members the opportunity to convert points to miles for air tickets or flight upgrades. We are constantly seeking to enhance our KrisFlyer programme to ensure that it provides more benefits to our members, and through this partnership they can now enjoy even more ways to earn and redeem miles on the ground and in the air,” said Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Ms Lee Wen Fen.

“Today, Dairy Farm Singapore’s TapForMore programme with the PAssion Card has already achieved a membership base of over 1.6 million. We are delighted to be KrisFlyer’s first exclusive retail partner to offer everyday lifestyle benefits to more members across both loyalty programmes. We see this unique partnership as the start of more synergistic opportunities we hope to tap on in the future and we are confident that the take up rate by members will be very encouraging,” added Mr Lester Quah, Director, Retail Development, Dairy Farm Singapore group.

SilkAir Now Offers Flights to Denpasar, and Soon to Cairns

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will begin daily services to Denpasar on 12 December 2014 and to Cairns on 30 May 2015. Together with Singapore Airlines’ four daily flights to Bali’s capital, both airlines will offer a total of five round-trip services a day, subject to regulatory approval. For the route to Cairns, SilkAir plans to operate three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, through circular routings with Darwin. The inaugural flight and subsequent Saturday flights will depart Singapore for Cairns non-stop and then return to Singapore via Darwin. The Monday and Thursday flights will fly to Cairns via Darwin and then return to Singapore non-stop.

Passengers coming from Manila can choose from four daily flights to Singapore via Singapore Airlines to connect conveniently to Denpasar, while passengers coming from Cebu, Davao or Kalibo can fly to Singapore via SilkAir. Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President, Marketing Planning Ms Lee Wen Fen said: “The increase in the number of flights reflects Singapore Airlines Group commitment in expanding our service offerings and providing our customers with more choices and convenience. Through synergising the networks of both airlines, we are able to enhance the connectivity options available to our customers through our combined network of 99 cities in 35 countries.”

SilkAir’s Chief Executive, Mr. Leslie Thng said: “Bali is a popular year-round travel destination renowned for its multifaceted attractions from temples, to pristine beaches and paddy fields. SilkAir is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to connect travellers around the world to this vibrant tourist destination from 12 December.”

As for the new Cairns route, Thng, shared: With the launch of Cairns, we, together with our parent company Singapore Airlines, will soon serve a total of seven points in Australia, namely Cairns, Darwin, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. “We believe this new service will be of interest to the leisure travelers as Cairns is well known for being the gateway to the popular Great Barrier Reef.”

Singapore Airlines Deepens Ties With Tourism Australia

Singapore Airlines and Tourism Australia have announced plans to deepen their existing commercial partnership by signing a new, three-year strategic marketing deal worth a total of A$12 million.

The agreement will see the two parties jointly fund a range of tourism campaigns and promotional activities in seven key inbound markets – Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, the UK, Germany and China.

Singapore Airlines will be the exclusive airline partner for all Restaurant Australia campaigns in Singapore, India, Indonesia and Malaysia as well as provide international flights for Tourism Australia’s key Corroboree Europe trade event, taking place in Adelaide in 2015.

Mr Mak Swee Wah, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President Commercial, said that the strategic partnership with Tourism Australia continues to be key in driving inbound tourism.

“As the world competes to attract visitors from key growth markets, Singapore Airlines continues to invest in promoting Australia, building on its long-standing presence and ongoing expansion across the country’s key gateways.”

“Combining Tourism Australia’s marketing prowess with Singapore Airlines’ network reach remains a winning proposition in key target markets to bring travellers to Australia. Leveraging the opportunities presented across Europe and Asia in partnership with Tourism Australia enables us to reach better conversion rates and cement Singapore as the optimal gateway hub to Australia.”

Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan said Singapore Airlines’ support for Restaurant Australia included providing flights for more than 30 top Asian food and wine influencers taking part in the campaign finale – a countrywide media familiarisation and gala dinner at MONA in Tasmania on 14 November.

“Singapore Airlines is one of our longest-standing airline partners, with a relationship stretching back more than two decades. Over the years, they’ve supported us on some key international campaigns and I’m delighted that this will continue with our latest offering, Restaurant Australia.”

“Asia continues to be a powerhouse for Australian tourism. As one of the region’s largest international carriers serving all of Australia’s capital cities, Singapore Airlines is a critical airline partner for us as we seek to drive further growth in our international arrivals,” he said.

Outside of New Zealand, Singapore is the most connected city to Australia. In recent years, Singapore has emerged as one of Australia’s most important inbound tourism markets. It is currently Australia’s fifth largest source market for international tourists with visitors from Singapore generating A$1.1 billion in total expenditure in 2013.

There were 368,400 visitors from Singapore in the 12-month period ending 30 September 2014, an annual increase of 14.4 per cent. The Tourism 2020 strategy estimates that the Singapore market has the potential to grow to between A$2.3 billion and A$2.8 billion in total expenditure by 2020.
