Sigma Corporation has recently launched the official pricing and availability of the new Sigma 24-105mm F4 DG OS HSM Art lens. Surprisingly though, the new lens costs USD100 more than its Canon counterpart, but the third-party lens manufacturer claims that the added cost equates to better optical performance.
By breaking down its name, we’ll have a bird’s eye view of what this new lens has to offer. So let’s start with that shall we?
24-105mm – equivalent zoom range when used on a full-frame dSLR camera.
F4 – Maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range.
DG – made with full-frame dSLR camera in mind, but can also be used for cameras with cropped sensor.
OS – or Optical Stabilization, meaning it minimizes blurs often caused by hand-held shooting.
HSM – or HyperSonic Motor, meaning it locks in on a subject faster and with lesser noise compared to non-HSM lenses.
Art – Sigma’s lineup of lenses designed to offer high image quality.
