Next Samsung Galaxy flagship to be unveiled on March 1

Samsung Mobile has announced that its next Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphone will be unveiled on March 1 ahead of Mobile World Congress 2015.

Samsung didn’t disclose much information in their tweet aside from the date of its Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event which is on March 1, 2015, but they included a photo of what appears to be a glimpse of the curved feature of the upcoming flagship and the caption “What’s next?”

Earlier reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will sport a curved edge display and software features similar to the Galaxy Note Edge. Samsung’s Exynos chipset is also reported to power the device and not Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 due to overheating issues.

This is the Samsung Galaxy S6, revealed in photos

After seeing the huge design improvements in Samsung’s recent smartphones like the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Note 4, a lot of people are excited about the Galaxy S6’s design. If you’re one of those people, then wait no more! The Samsung Galaxy S6 may have just been accidentally revealed through some photos on the internet.

Seeing through the case

From the images above, you will notice a few things:

  • There is no opening for the speakers at the back, but one case above suggests that there is one on the bottom left side
  • The flash and the heart-rate monitor is relocated
  • The space for the micro USB port is still wide, which may suggest the presence of waterproofing and / or fast charging with 3.0
  • The back design is still patterned with dots
  • There is a huge chance of having metal on the sides, but the cases are covering it
  • New TouchWiz design is found on the screen

If you search up Galaxy S6 cases on Amazon, you’ll find quite a lot of them – and they’re all consistent regardless of who manufactured the case (Cush Cases, Spigen). Case manufacturers are given the dimensions of companies’ next smartphones ahead of launch, so it’s really safe to say these have a high rate of being accurate. If you want to try and see more of the Galaxy S6, you can already do some early case shopping.

Samsung Galaxy S6 to have a curved screen?

As Samsung’s newest flagship is set to be announced soon, rumors have been floating around that the Korean giant is creating the successor to the Galaxy S5 in two variations, one of which has a curved screen.

The curved-screen variant of the new flagship is reported to be similar to the Galaxy Note Edge smartphone released last year. We all know that the Note Edge’s curved screen functions independently as a placeholder for quick shortcuts and on-screen actions available on the device.

Another variation is set to be made with an all-metal unibody, which might be similar to its Galaxy Alpha and A-series smartphones. This is a huge departure from its current polycarbonate plastic design language that paved the way for the success of its former banner devices such as the Galaxy S3.

Last December, an AnTuTu benchmark of a G925F device sporting 3GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution similar to the LG G3, 32GB of internal storage made the rounds on tech cyberspace. (READ MORE: Is Samsung G925F the new Galaxy S6?)

Samsung is definitely taking a different approach to its flagship devices after decreasing sales and reported losses in 2014, the first in three years. We shall see with that, as the company is set to announce the new flagship at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in March.
