Samsung Galaxy S6: What To Expect on March 1

We’re all expecting the next Galaxy very soon at Samsung’s Unpacked event at the MWC week, but what will it bring us exactly?

six appeal

There have been lots of leaks and teasers from Samsung already since their last device launch, and the image is starting to become clear. However, there’s a gap in consistency – all of the leaks point to a very conservative and traditional metal redesign with flat surfaces, while Samsung’s own teasers say that the device’s display will curve on the sides. This leads everyone to speculate that there will be two devices launching soon – the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Galaxy S6 1

Regardless if there are two devices or one, we’re still expecting very much the same devices only with varying designs.

Samsung Galaxy S6 expected specs:
5.1-inch (curved) Super AMOLED display at 2560 x 1440 pixels
Anti-reflective scratch-resistant screen
64-Bit Samsung Exynos 7 series CPU
3GB or 4GB RAM
32GB internal memory
20 megapixel camera with LED flash, OIS
4K video recording, 60fps 1080p, slo-mo
Improved Wide-Angle Selfie camera
WiFi
Bluetooth
NFC
4G LTE
Wireless Charging
Heart-rate monitor
Fingerprint scanner
Android 5.0 Lollipop with faster Touchwiz

As you can see above, the specs are a vast improvement over the Galaxy S5 and still quite a bit over the Note 4. Notice however that there’s a chance we won’t see micro SD card expansion here because Samsung is deciding to create a slimmer metallic profile for their flagship phone. All the leaked images also removed the flap covering the ports, so we might not see water-resistance carrying over from the Galaxy S5, but we’re still counting on it.

Tomorrow, metals will flow.
Beauty will be powerful.
Borders will disappear.
Reflections will be free.
Colors will live.
The future will be the present.

If you watch the teaser above, you will pretty much get an idea of what Samsung is teasing. There’s definitely going to be metal; say goodbye to plastic. The company is also boasting power, beauty and a seamless design with no borders (curved). Finally, we’re expecting a anti-reflective Super AMOLED display.

Reading closer into the rumors, you’ll find that TouchWiz is also going to change to be a lot better and faster. We’ll wait to see how that turns up to be, but if all things prove to be true, then the complaints of “cheap Samsung plastic” and TouchWiz will go away – and we’ll be left with one or two focused and well-positioned Samsung smartphones.

Now, Samsung just needs to learn to release fewer but exemplary devices.

Local source confirms Galaxy S6, S6 Edge details

A local source we talked to this week has revealed details of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge based on first-hand encounter with the device.

Our source personally saw and held the Galaxy S6 Edge from a Samsung Executive last week and described some details about the handset which will be formally announced in March 1 at the Unpacked event in Barcelona.

* There will be two main variants of the Galaxy S6 — the regular, flat one and another curved one which will be called Galaxy S6 Edge.

* The Galaxy S6 Edge will have a curved edge just like the Galaxy Note Edge. However, instead of just one side, both the left and right sides will have the curved display.

* Both devices will have a display size of 5.1 inches, the same size as the Galaxy S5.

* The handsets will also come in different colors — black, white and blue.

* The back panel of the device is made up of some very hard polycarbonate material that looks and feels like glass but is very tough. The Samsung executive even tried to scratch it with a fork during their dinner meeting. The material is also very glossy, giving it mirror-like properties.

As for the internals, the Galaxy S6 will sport the fastest chip from Samsung (an unnamed Exynos processor) but it’s also possible that a Qualcomm variant will be released (possibly the Snapdragon 810).

We’ve been invited to attend the Samsung Unpack Event in Barcelona next month so we’d be able to deliver first hand accounts of the launching.
