Now that the HTC One mini is out, it’s time to square it off with another mini that could, the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Let the spec showdown begin.

To start things off, the One mini and the S4 mini were announced just recently. The S4 mini was announced first in June followed by the One mini a month later. Both smartphones have 4.3-inch displays with Gorilla Glass, Snapdragon 400 dual-core CPUs, LTE connectivity and skinned Android 4.2.2 Jellybean.

Judging from the spec sheet, the HTC One mini has the advantage in terms of display resolution, built-in internal storage, and aluminum build. However, the S4 mini scores better when it comes to CPU clock speed, RAM, micro SD card support, battery capacity, and smaller and lighter body. Samsung is also offering a dual-SIM variant of the S4 mini, removing LTE as a trade-off.

As for the camera, the S4 mini has a higher megapixel count at 8MP, but since image quality doesn’t always depend on the amount of pixels, we can’t rule out the One mini’s 4MP Ultrapixel technology just yet.

The only missing aspect here is the local pricing. There’s also a good chance that these phones will become carrier exclusives as well so we’ll just have to stay tuned for those. So, how about that? Which mini do you think is better?

Samsung to launch Galaxy S4 Active, S4 Mini, Galaxy Zoom in June 20

We’ve gotten confirmation that Samsung is set to launch a number of new smartphones, laptops and camera. We’ve been told that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Zoom will be among the few smartphones along with a new Samsung ATIV ultrabook.

We’ve already reported earlier about the water-proof Galaxy S4 Active and the Galaxy S4 Mini while the Galaxy Zoom is a hybrid camera and smartphone device.

The launch will be held in London this June 20 and we will be there to cover the entire event.

Rumor: SGS4 Mini with Exynos 5210 SoC

Now that Samsung’s priced flagship is out in the open, rumor mongers are speculating that a “Mini” version is in the works and it may feature the company’s upcoming System-on-Chip dubbed as Exynos 5210.

The rumored Exynos 5210 is believed to be third SoC under the Exynos 5 lineup and is said to be based on the ARM big.LITTLE architecture. However, unlike its 8-core sibling, the chip will pack a pair of dual-core processors (2x A7 and 2x A15, perhaps) that will make up the quad-core set up.

As for the handset, the rumor suggests that it’ll come in two variant; single and dual-SIM. The former is said to have the Exynos 5210 while the other is believed to have a more basic dual-core processor. Other specs of the SGS4 Mini include a 4.3-inch qHD display that will play host to the TouchWiz Nature UX 2.0 on top of Android 4.2.2 operating system. Furthermore, we expect the handset’s structure to follow the SGS4’s design cue.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini photos and specs leak

Meanwhile, as people are still buzzing about the Samsung Galaxy S4, the smaller and tuned down version of the flagship phone is already being prepped up and here we are with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, leaking for all our eyes to see.

So, what is it? As the name implies, it looks like a minimized SGS4 with minimized specs. Leaked specs indicate that we are looking at a device with a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, a 1.6GHz dual-core CPU and Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature UX on Android 4.2.2.

You can see through the pictures that it really does look like its bigger brother, from sides to edges. No word on the camera and the other internals yet, as well as the release and announcement dates – so we have to keep our eyes open for that part. Locally, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is still fresh from release, and we’re already preparing a review to come in the following weeks, so stay tuned.
