Samsung Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini users took a huge blow last week after the South Korean firm confirmed that their handset will not be updated to Android KitKat. Luckily, users of the Galaxy Note 8 will not suffer the same fate as Samsung started seeding the firmware starting with the devices on their own turf.
There’s currently no detailed changelog of what the update will bring to the slate, but according to SamMobile the upgrade will add wireless printing support to the device, as well as performance boost both in the processing and battery departments.
The Android KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was initially rolled out in South Korea through OTA update Samsung Kies, but the site received reports that it’s also being seeded in other regions. It’s uncertain when the update will arrive to our shore, but it’s possible that local users won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the update.
Alternatively, if you really can’t wait to upgrade your Galaxy Note 8 (N5100), you can just download the new software build on this link (for non-Korean model) and manually flash it to your device. Now if you’re rocking a Korean version of the SGN8, you’d have to download the firmware on this link.
