Samsung Electronics has announced its latest microSD card with 256GB capacity – the Samsung EVO Plus.

The EVO Plus 256GB microSD card is aimed at premium smartphones and tablets, 360-degree video recorders, action cameras, and drones. It claims up to 12 hours of 4K UHD video recording or 33 hours in Full HD, and uses the company’s V-NAND technology for read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively.

Samsung intros new SD and microSD cards for 4K video

Samsung Electronics has introduced their latest memory cards aimed at devices that takes advantage of 4K UHD video recording – the PRO Plus and EVO Plus.

The Samsung PRO Plus SD and microSD cards comes in 32GB and 64GB capacities with read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90MB/s, UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Speed Class 10 performance levels. To put that into perspective, the 64GB card can record approximately 110 minutes of 4K UHD video or 490 minutes of Full HD video.

Next is the Samsung EVO Plus SD and microSD cards which comes in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities. It has read and write speeds of 80MB/s and 20MB/s, UHS-I Speed Class 1 (U1) and Speed Class 10 performance. The 128GB can store an approximate of 10,940 photos, 30,670 songs or 980 minutes of Full HD video recording.

In addition to the performance specs above, both cards are equipped with upgraded Samsung 5-proof features, meaning they are waterproof (can withstand 72 hours under seawater), temperature proof (operating temperatures of from -25°C to 85°C), X-ray proof, magnetic proof and shock proof protection.

The Samsung PRO Plus and EVO Plus memory cards will be available globally starting this month.
