Dell outs Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet

Dell has announced its first fully rugged tablet with an 11.6-inch display and powered by a 5th-Generation Intel Core M processor – the Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet.

Panasonic launches Windows, Android ruggedized tablets

Panasonic has recently launched two new members of their Toughpad line of ruggedized tablets designed for “mission-critical and highly mobile workers” – the Windows 8 Pro-powered Toughpad FZ-G1, and the Android Toughpad JT-B1.

The FZ-G1 Toughpad runs Windows 8 Pro and sports a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 (224 ppi). Under the hood is a Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3437U vPro CPU clocked at 1.9GHz, a 128GB SSD which can be upgraded to 256GB and up to 8GB of RAM. As for its ruggedness, the FZ-G1 can withstand a 4-foot drop and is IP65 certified meaning it’s dust and water resistant.

Now for the JT-B1 Toughpad, it sports a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 (170 ppi), a TI OMAP4460 dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage with microSD support. It also has 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing. Powering the device is 5,720mAh battery and Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Like its bigger brother, it is also IP56 certified and can survive a 5-foot drop.

The Windows-powered Toughpad FZ-G1 has a price tag of $2,899 and will be available in the US in March. While the Android Toughpad JT-B1 has a price tag of $1,199 and will be available in February.
