The Dalmore luxury whisky brand sets up shop at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Mall

One of the world’s most revered single malt whiskies has arrived at the country’s premier lifestyle destination Resorts World Manila (RWM). The Dalmore Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Principal Collection is now available at the ground level of RWM following the official store launch.

Producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839 with a label of excellence via the iconic 12-pointed royal stag’s antlers taken from the crest of the Mackenzie family who owned and managed the distillery in 1867, each bottle of The Dalmore promises a feast of rich and complex flavour notes. Distilled in the Scottish highlands, each bottle of The Dalmore is perfected with the golden barley of the rich coastal soils of the Black Isle and the crystal-clear waters of Loch Morie in Scotland being the distillery’s rich natural setting that provides for ideal conditions for maturation.

Within the Principal Collection is The Dalmore King Alexander III, which is indeed a truly unique Single Malt especially when it is the first Single Malt to be marketed with not just one but with six different “wood finishes.” Port, Madeira, Marsala, Cabernet Sauvignon, Small Batch Bourbon and Matusalem Sherry – all of these finishes result in a complex array of enticing flavours. Like a box of luxurious chocolates there is a multitude of unashamed pleasures waiting to be experienced.

Housing international upscale brands at Newport Mall, RWM welcomes the addition of The Dalmore, a contemporary British Luxury brand, rooted in heritage.

Resorts World Manila continues expansion with launch of Marriott Grand Ballroom

Resorts World Manila (RWM), the country’s first integrated resort and tourism destination, recently opened the Marriott Grand Ballroom—a three-story convention center boasting the country’s largest grand ballroom and an 8,000 square meter MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) facility.

The grand opening was highlighted by a one-night only concert of multi Grammy award-winner and back-to-back Oscar nominee James Ingram, together with new Siren of the Strip Lani Misalucha. Prior to the opening, the Marriott Grand Ballroom had also hosted the 50th “Gabi ng Parangal” Anvil Awards in May.

Boasting six VIP sky boxes and a main 3,000 square meter pillarless ballroom that can easily accommodate 4,000 guests for concert events and 2,500 guests for banquet set-up, this first of its kind facility is targeted at the Philippine MICE industry and is an important addition to RWM’s sprawling 14-hectare integrated resort in Newport City.

With the largest MICE facility in the country, RWM is also expected to have an influx of both local and foreign guests in the coming months as the integrated resort continues its Phase 3 expansion projects including two new hotel brands in its property, Hilton Manila Hotel and Sheraton Hotel Manila set to open by 2017.

“With Marriott Grand Ballroom, the largest hotel ballroom in the country now operational, we intend to capture a significant share of the MICE market,” said RWM Chief Operating Officer Stephen Reilly.

Also part of its Phase 2 expansion plan is the Marriott West Wing a 10-storey annex to the Marriott Hotel Manila with approximately 3,000 sq. m. which is expected to add 227 rooms across approximately 31,000 sq. m. of built-up space.

Yolanda survivors get new lease on life with Sun & Moon Village

A milestone was reached as 50 newly constructed homes were turned over by Resorts World Manila (RWM) with at least another 150 ready for occupancy to accommodate a total of 209 families who survived the wrath of the strongest storm ever recorded to make landfall.

Just last year, RWM, in partnership with Bouberg Productions, IMG artists, Enda Markey, and Ultimate Shows produced a 2-night charity concert entitled “Do You Hear the People Sing?” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT). The funds raised during the concert were used to build these new homes for the survivors of typhoon Yolanda in Barangay Dolores, Ormoc, Leyte.

Present during the ceremonies were Habitat COO for Disaster Response Leonilo Escalada; OCCCI Board of Director chairperson Fr. Elmo P. Manching; OCCCI chair on housing committee Director Juanito Reyes; NEDC field officer Janet Pasicaran; city councilor Hon. Pedro Ebcas; Barangay Captain of Barangay Dolores Pedro Pepito; and RWM Director for Corporate Communications Owen Cammayo.

Named Sun & Moon Village after a song penned by music theater composers Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil for the musical Miss Saigon, the project is a collaborative effort with partners Habitat for Humanity, National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO), and the Metro Ormoc Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (OCCCI).

“RWM is committed to responding and helping the Filipinos especially in times of calamities,” said Cammayo. “Enabling a fresh start for some of the Yolanda survivors is both an advocacy and a privilege. We are confident that these new typhoon-resilient homes will be as tough and resilient as our countrymen.”

Prestigious recognition bestowed upon Resorts World Manila chef

Executive chef Cyrille Soenen of Resorts World Manila’s (RWM) Impressions fine dining French restaurant was recently recognized and honored by the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France—the most envied and exclusive title that chefs around the world aspire for.

Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, or Master Chefs of France, are often given the highest classification in restaurant guides, and are regularly mentioned in the world’s leading food and travel magazines. Many leading chefs, the “Meilleurs Ouvriers de France” and the winners of culinary competitions belong to the Association.

“On behalf of Resorts World Manila, I would like to congratulate chef Cyrille on this outstanding award,” said RWM Chief Hotel Operations Officer Scott Sibley. “This is a big deal and the real deal. Chef Cyrille is now classified as a Master Chef of France and we are all truly proud to have him in the RWM team.”

The organization’s motto is “to preserve and spread the French culinary arts, encourage training in cuisine, and assist professional development.” The public authorities recognize the important work carried out by Maîtres Cuisiniers de France “to preserve, advance and perpetuate the tradition of great French cuisine”. This is why they have no hesitation in granting them honorary awards, especially those of the “Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur”, the “Ordre National du Mérite Agricole” and the “Ordre National du Mérite”.

“All French chefs know about the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. It’s a well-recognized group in France,” said Soenen. “I also feel happy because the Philippines will now be included in the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. It’s not just about me, it’s for everyone. It’s good for the staff, it’s good for Resorts World, and good for the diners because with this title I cannot settle for mediocrity.”

Chef Cyrille is currently executive chef at French fine dining restaurant Impressions located on the 3/F of Maxims Hotel, Resorts World Manila. For reservations, call (02) 908 8883 Monday to Saturday 6 PM to 12 MN, Sunday Brunch 11 AM to 3 PM, and Sunday Dinner 6 PM to 10 PM.
