Earlier today, the Public Information Office of the Supreme Court cascaded the information that the Temporary Restraining Order on the Republic Act 10175 aka Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 has been extended indefinitely.
The 120-day TRO on the Anti-Cybercrime Law was issued on October and is due to expire tomorrow Feb 6. The decision to prolong the restraining order was reached after the Supreme Court finished hearing the oral arguments from both the petitioners and the Solicitor General.
The indefinite TRO allows the Supreme Court to go through each of the points presented by both parties and based their decision from that. It’s uncertain when the high tribunal will reach a decision, but what’s important is that the law remains in limbo while they’re reaching a conclusion.
