DZRJ 810 AM goes English!

DZRJ 810 AM The Voice of the Philippines was launched last August 25, 2010 as a test broadcast & October 4, 2010 as an official broadcast. If I’m not mistaken, RBN management planned this rebrand last July 2010.

Since 1986, it was branded as Radyo Bandido. Broadcaster June Keithley and Fr. James Reuter were responsible for the reformat from Boss Radio to Radyo Bandido. Since 2004, Radyo Bandido brings live simulcasts from VOA & BBC. During the late 2000s, Radyo Bandido’s popularity waned.

So, what the RBN management did was to rebrand Radyo Bandido to The Voice of the Philippines. This is to fit in more with VOA & BBC. It is the only English-Language AM radio station in the Philippines. I hope this will be very successful.
