PAL opens New Domestic Routes

Philippine Airlines recently launched new intra-domestic routes linking Cebu and Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Butuan, Tacloban, Iloilo and Bacolod.

New flights also link Iloilo and General Santos as well as Zamboanga and Davao. The new routes were re-established to bridge key points within and across various regions.

PAL opens Manila – Tablas service

Philippine Airlines now operates thrice weekly flights between Manila and Tablas.

Tablas is the largest of the islands that comprise Romblon province known for its marine beaches and marine sanctuaries.

PAL sets paperless entry at NAIA Terminal 2

Philippine Airlines, in collaboration with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), is set to break new ground when it introduces next week a novel system at its main Manila airport hub that dispenses with paper documents and instead relies on a digital image of the ticket for passengers entering the terminal.
This image should match the one sent by PAL to the passenger’s device when the ticket was purchased.

Other forms of travel documents, including paper ones, will still be accepted during the initial phase of the project. These include the traditional paper ticket, the printed itinerary receipt, and the printed e-boarding pass for passengers opting for web check-in.

During the initial phase of implementation, PAL representatives will be temporarily posted at the NAIA Terminal 2 entrance to assist passengers and security personnel in applying the new scheme.

This initiative by the flag carrier is in line with the mandate of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its member airlines to eliminate paper documents and move to a completely paperless environment by 2016.

Passengers are reminded to bring their necessary travel documents such as valid identification cards with photograph and passports for security and check-in requirement.

PAL flies to New York

Philippine Airlines and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Lucio D. Tan presents a Boeing 777 model aircraft to US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg during the send-off ceremony of the inaugural flight to New York. Also present in the ceremony is Transportation Undersecretary Jose P. Lotilla, Mrs. Carmen Tan and PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista.

A high-level delegation of government and PAL officials joined the flight that took on a festive atmosphere with top entertainer Martin Nievera being joined by Chairman Tan while serenading the passengers.

A Mother’s Christmas Story

Christmas in the Philippines is definitely one of the happiest. From simbang gabi to bibingka, puto bumbong, and twinkling parol, Filipinos surely celebrate Christmas as only Filipino families know how.

However, for the millions of Overseas Filipino Workers around the globe, this may be the loneliest time of the year as Christmas is spent alone in a foreign land away from their loved ones.

Miriam Carpio, 53, has been an OFW in Hong Kong for 17 years. While she has worked hard and persevered to provide for her family all these years, she had to endure several Christmases away from them, having to surprise them from afar with Christmas gifts sent through balikbayan boxes and padala.

This Christmas, it’s Miriam’s turn to receive the biggest surprise of her life from Philippine National Bank (PNB) and Philippine Airlines (PAL).
