OnePlus 2 vs. Zenfone 2 at Php15k: Flagship killers?

The announcement of OnePlus Two earlier today puts another great contender in the mid-range price point. The OnePlus Two joins the venerable Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) in the Php15,000 range as among the best bang-for-the-buck smartphone.

Asus has dubbed the Zenfone 2 as a flagship killer with its high-end specs (4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Intel Atom quad-core) at a mid-range price. OnePlus has also claimed that the OnePlus Two is a 2016 flagship killer with its 4GB DDR4 RAM, 64GB storage and Snapdrgaon 810 octa-core processor at midrange price.

Both handsets are very compelling for their respective asking price.

So we looked a little closer and see how the two handsets are truly respected in their price category.

We’re unsure if the OnePlus 2 will eventually be officially released in the Philippines but we’re certain we’ll see a lot of them to be accessible via Lazada.

Based on the line-up of specs in the chart above, both handset have their respective strengths and weakness.

Zenfone 2:
* More specs option with RAM, storage, processor
* Expandable external storage
* Built-in NFC
* Lighter

OnePlus 2:
* Powerful processor and GPU
* Generous base RAM of 3GB
* Faster DDR4 memory speed
* Thinner
* Higher screen-to-body ratio
* Tougher Gorilla Glass
* Higher battery capacity

We’ll definitely secure a unit once this is released so we can test and review it.
