More than a year after the Nikon unveiled the D5300, the Japan-based camera maker announces its successor, the Nikon D5500.
Truth be told though, not a lot has changed from the previous model apart from the addition of a touchscreen panel on the D5500’s 3.2-inch vari-angle display and a longer battery life that is rated to last for up to 3200 shots on a single charge.
Nikon D5500 specs:
24.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor (no OLPF)
EXPEED 4 image processing
ISO 100-12800 (25600 with boost)
39-point AF system
1080p video recording at 60fps
5fps stills
3.2-inch vari-angle touchscreen display
3200 shots per charge battery life
Built-in WiFi
Built-in GPS
Colors: Black or Red
Interestingly, the addition of the touchscreen display resulted in to a USD100 increase on the Nikon D5500’s price tag which will be retailed for USD900 (body only) starting next month. Meanwhile, the body plus kit lens option will set you back USD1,200.
