Globe offers new-gen Chromecast for Php99/month

In an attempt to fulfill its promise for a connected home, Globe partners up with Google to bring the new generation Chromecast to its subscribers for Php99 per month.

For those unfamiliar, Google Chromecast basically lets you cast content from your smart device (smartphone, tablet, computer) onto your regular television. It just plugs into the TV’s HDMI port, connects to the Wi-Fi, and you’ll be ready to watch different content.

It features wireless connectivity via the latest 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi and three antenna structure that promises faster and stable connection with less buffering. With it, users can also access other apps like HOOQ, NBA, and Spotify.

Globe Broadband customers with any plan can avail of the latest generation Chromecast for Php99 as an add-on every month in a 24-month period. This offer is only available until November 18, 2016.

ASUS intros Zenfone Pegasus 3 – budget Marshmallow phone

ASUS is squeezing in one more model into its recently-launched lineup in the form of the Zenfone Pegasus 3. It is an entry-level contender but aims to offer a bang-for-the-buck performance.

Globe fires up 130 cell sites using 2600MHz spectrum

As a move to support growing demand for bandwidth in more parts of the archipelago, Globe Telecom announces putting up 130 sites with the 2600MHz spectrum in Visayas and Mindanao.

Globe says that this additional allocation is the fruit of the recent joint purchase of San Miguel Corporation’s telecom assets and is actually just an initial rollout since they’re still planning to fire up more sites in the 2600MHz band.

With this high-frequency band, the company will be able to provide additional capacity for broadband data and is different from the lower 700MHz which gives better signal penetration in addition to stronger indoor coverage.

Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Governance, Network Technical Group, also added that they are still pushing for utilizing the company’s spectrum allocation to continue rolling out the Carrier Aggregation technology as they recognize it to be a vital aspect of LTE-Advanced.

With these established cell sites taking advantage of high frequencies, Globe is looking forward to giving faster Internet access to its subscribers whether they’re in Luzon, Visayas, or Mindanao.
