MRT-7 construction to start on February 18th

After 7 years, the awaited MRT Line 7 will finally see the light as Universal LRT Corporation BVI Limited (ULC) is ready to start construction in a few days.

The San Miguel Corporation-backed company has already fully complied with the financial closure requirements by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) which was the only hindrance before proceeding with the contruction dating back to August 2014. The rail component MRT7 project is a 22.8-kilometer rapid-transit system with 108 rail cars in a 3-car train configuration. It will have maximum daily passenger capacity of 850,000.

14 trains will be contructed along the route of the new MRT starting from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to North Avenue, Quezon City. There will be a common stationat the end of the line, which will be located near TriNoma, wherein passengers will be able to transfer to the existing MRT3 and LRT1.

Target completion of the project is on August 2019.
