Motorola Droid Mini makes its official debut

During Verizon’s press event, the Droid Maxx and Ultra shared the stage with their smaller sibling, the Droid Mini. But unlike the Mini-me’s of other flagship handsets, this Mini packs quite a punch.

Apart from the smaller and meeker, the Motorola Droid Mini boasts the same configuration as the Droid Ultra. That includes a 10MP camera which can record 1080p videos up to 60fps and its 2MP sidekick at the front. It also runs on Android 4.2 straight off the bat which is handled by the same 8-core chip and 2GB RAM.

Albeit the slightly smaller power pack which is rated at 2000mAh, Motorola claims that the Droid Mini can provide up to 28 hours’ worth of mileage (probably on light usage) or Standby time of up to 14 days. We’ll be taking a closer look at this if and when we’re able to secure a review unit.

In most cases, manufacturers tend to cut a lot of corners in order to produce a cheaper alternative to their franchise centerpiece. Fortunately, it’s not the case with the Droid Mini as you can probably see on its specs sheet. We think that it’s more of a smaller alternative rather than a lower-tiered handset when placed beside the Maxx and Ultra.

The Motorola Droid Mini is priced at USD99 with contract and is only being offered by Verizon in the US.
