T-Pain’s auto-tuned voice will guide you through traffic

There have been a lot of famous identities that gave their voice as assistants for the traffic navigation app Waze. Now, it’s time to auto-tune your way through EDSA since T-Pain is here to give you a heads-up of the latest events on the road.

We remember T-Pain as the artist that popularized the auto-tune effect applied to the voice to have that robotic effect. We’ve also seen T-Pain appear in hit tracks like “I’m on a Boat”.

To get him to start telling you where the next police is, simply open your Waze app and head to the settings menu and look for Sound>Navigation Guidance. From the selection, hit T-Pain and the app will begin to download the new prompts.

Of course, it’s better  to do all that at home and download thru Wi-Fi than while driving — saves both data and is way safer.

MMDA to re-implement No-Contact Traffic Apprehension Policy

Starting tomorrow, April 15, 2016, MMDA will re-implement the No-Contact Traffic Apprehension Policy that utilizes close circuit television (CCTV) cameras for motorists committing traffic violations.

Metro Manila Council, which is MMDA’s policy-making body, recently passed a resolution to send notice to the vehicle’s owner or operator telling them of their violations. The specific time, date, and place will be included as well as the traffic violation committed.

After which, the motorist could still contest to the MMDA-Traffic Adjudication Division (TAD) about the violation no longer than seven days upon receipt of the notice.

“Within 15 days from receipt of the adverse TAD resolution, the driver may still file a motion for reconsideration (MR). If the MR is denied, the driver may further file an appeal before the Office of the Chairman where the decision shall be final and executory,” MMDA posts on their page.

After proceeding, the violator will have to pay the fine once the final notice has been received. Failure to do so will force the MMDA to include the violator’s plate number in the Alarm list and will then be sent to the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Individuals with cars in the said list would not be able to renew their vehicle registration until they settle the fine.

HPG pushes to stop purchase of vehicle without parking space

Held during a joint meeting to solve the troublesome traffic in Metro Manila,  GMA News Online reports that the head of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) is calling for a ban on vehicle purchase when the owner still has no designated parking for it.

“It is my recommendation that we should come out with a law providing or prohibiting individuals [from buying or purchasing] motor vehicles without their respective garage,” said Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, officer-in-charge of the HPG which is tasked to facilitate traffic management along EDSA.  He also expressed his interest to declare all streets no parking zones so as to give more way for motorists.

Part of this is reported to be due to the 20,000 – 25,000 vehicles purchased every month here in the Philippines, with Metro Manila contributing about 60% to that number.

In addition, the report says Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III demands that the authorities make sure that vehicles will only be allowed to park at designated areas.

Lastly, future plans such as extending LRT lines were brought up in order to ‘move people’, but would still take a while to be fully operational.
