Philippines Tops Facebook Messenger Basketball Game

Since its launch on March 17, the hidden basketball game inside Facebook Messenger app has gone viral and we have some numbers to share about it.

The famous basketball game has reached 300 million sessions in just a week and it now has almost 700 million sessions, 693 million to be specific, from 43.7 million players worldwide. It’s already been played in over 61 million conversation threads which, of course, include ours.

To top that, the Philippines has the most sessions. Look likes our fondness of playing basketball has gone digital as well. Peak hours of playtime if at 9PM to 11PM in each country.

The top 10 countries includes:

  1. Philippines
  2. US
  3. Great Britain
  4. Thailand
  5. France
  6. Australia
  7. Canada
  8. Taiwan
  9. South Korea
  10. Mexico

More than half of the users at 56.8% have scored between 1-10 while 33.3% was able to score higher at 11-20. If your high score is at 21-30, you’re part of the 9%. Extreme 0.82% players has reached between 31-40 and just 0.08% scored 41 and above.

Facebook Messenger for Android introduces multi-account feature

Weeks after introducing multi-account support for Instagram, Facebook is now bringing the same feature to its main messaging app, the Messenger.

While multiple account support for Messenger is not exactly as useful as with Instagram, it’s a welcome feature for those who have shared devices like a home tablet. Also, if we’re to base on the screenshots above, the app will also sport Google’s Material Design for Android.

The refreshed app should come to your Android devices in the coming days and once your app gets the update, just head over to the settings tab and looks for ‘Accounts’. From here, you can add each Facebook account you that will use the app without the need to log them in from the main Facebook app.

Obviously, the update is heading for Android only for now. Windows Phone and iOS counterparts are yet to receive the feature.

Facebook Messenger’s new feature allows sending money to friends

Facebook today announces its new feature in Messenger that allows people to send and receive money in a secured process. According to the company it will be free to use, and will soon be rolling out in the coming months.

In this time of hacking and intrusion of personal files, Facebook values security above all else and that’s what they’re implementing upon rollout of this new feature.

We use secure systems that encrypt the connection between you and Facebook as well as your card information when you ask us to store it for you. We use layers of software and hardware protection that meet the highest industry standards. These payment systems are kept in a secured environment that is separate from other parts of the Facebook network and that receive additional monitoring and control. A team of anti-fraud specialists monitor for suspicious purchase activity to help keep accounts safe.

To send or receive money, the user just needs to follow these simple steps:

Sending money

  • Start a message with a friend
  • Tap the $ icon and enter the amount you want to send
  • Tap Pay in the top right and add your debit card to send money

Receiving money

  • Open the conversation from your friend
  • Tap Add Card in the message and add your debit card to accept money for the first time

As of now, only those residing in the United States are slated to receive this new update in the coming months. Stay tuned as we wait for any development on its global release.
