In Davao City, a man named Jose Guardo Jr., developed a new magnetic levitation (Maglev) system that could pave the way to better transit solutions. According to Sun Star Davao, it will be the third Maglev system after Germany and Japan.
Guardo’s invertion works using the gyroscopic spin induced Lenz’s law. “It uses a permanent magnet that is twisted, then returned to the conductor (can be aluminum or copper), and then refilled, causing the train to levitate.”, the local news source said. This method is different from Japan and Germany.
Their team is currently looking for potential investors to make the project come to life and the national goverment, through Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), is willing to help and finance Guardo’s vision.
A test trail and an incubation center will be constructed, to be shared with other inventors, once funding pushed through.
