Lenovo S920 in the flesh, first impressions

A few months ago, the Lenovo S920 arrived in Philippine shores for a price below the 20k mark. It offered a huge 5.3-inch IPS HD display, a quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM & more in a body measuring at only 7.9mm. A unit just passed through our office recently, so read on to see our first impressions.

At first glance, the Lenovo S920 did remind us a lot of the HTC One X. There’s the 5.3-inch display with thin bezels on the sides, capacitive buttons right at the bottom and the brand logo above the display. The rest of the body is covered in white, and while it is made out of plastic, it feels a lot sturdier than other phones.

Lenovo S920 front back

The camera on the back is reminiscent of the HTC One X too as the lens is surrounded by a chrome-colored ring. It packs an 8-megapixel camera by the way, and while we’re yet to test it thoroughly, we managed to take a few shots and glad to say, it’s far from disappointing.

Lenovo S920 sides

  • Antutu – 13,507
  • Quadrant – 4,990
  • Nenamark 2 – 45.1

Lenovo’s skin on top of Android 4.2 still looks very cartoonish, but you can easily remedy that with a launcher. The CPU bundled with the 1GB RAM inside enabled the S920 to breeze through basic navigation & tasks.

I wish we had a little more time to spend with the Lenovo S920. In our short experience with it, we were very pleased with what it can offer.

Lenovo S920 (3)

Right now, it’s priced at around Php16,999 which may be quite hard to justify for some, but if you’re looking for something jam-packed in a thin yet solid form factor, you may want to consider the S920.

Lenovo outs S920 quad-core smartphone

Lenovo has just made official on their Chinese online shop their new quad-core smartphone that runs Android 4.2 Jellybean – the Lenovo S920.

The Lenovo S920 sports a 5.3-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, an 8 megapixel camera, 2 megapixel front-facing, and a 2,250 mAh battery. Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.2 Jellybean.

As for the design, there’s no doubt that the S920 took a lot of inspiration from the HTC One X. Just take a look at that camera design. It also has curved corners, a thin bezel, and a body that is just 7.9mm thick.

We can’t confirm the pricing yet but it will definitely hit China first in April.
