Lenovo is doing great in the smartphone game. With devices for different markets, they sure know how to play. Coming from the success of the K3 Note or the A7000 Plus when it arrived locally, the successor aims to prove itself as an entertainment phone. Is the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note any good? Here’s our full review.
Design and Construction
The design of the K4 Note is fairly similar to the current batch of Lenovo smartphones today. Up front, we have a stereo speaker setup sandwiching the Corning Gorilla 3 which protects the 5.5-inch IPS display along with a couple of sensors and the front-facing camera. Beneath the display is the three capacitive navigation buttons that don’t have a backlight, so you have to be familiar with them when using in the dark.
On the right are the usual volume rocker and the power/lock button while the left is void of any buttons or ports.
Up top is where the 3.5mm headphone jack sits alone and the bottom has the micro-USB port for charging and data connection plus the primary microphone.
The back of the K4 Note houses the main 13-megapixel camera with its dual-tone LED flash. The fingerprint sensor is positioned just below the camera module which makes it ideal for use with the index finger.
Pop open the removable back cover to gain access to the SIM card slots. It supports micro-SIM cards, so if you own a mini-SIM, it’s time for a cut or just have it replaced. The second SIM slot also accepts a microSD card for memory expansion.
It’s important to note that the battery is non-removable despite the fact that it’s easily accessible. It even looks like it’s a swappable one, so ignore the possibility of removing the battery on the K4 Note.
The overall build of the handset is fairly good. It’s mostly made out of plastic with a matte and soft-touch finish on the back panel. While it may not feel as good as other aluminum counterparts, it’s definitely light and easy to handle.
