Resorts World Manila continues expansion with launch of Marriott Grand Ballroom

Resorts World Manila (RWM), the country’s first integrated resort and tourism destination, recently opened the Marriott Grand Ballroom—a three-story convention center boasting the country’s largest grand ballroom and an 8,000 square meter MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) facility.

The grand opening was highlighted by a one-night only concert of multi Grammy award-winner and back-to-back Oscar nominee James Ingram, together with new Siren of the Strip Lani Misalucha. Prior to the opening, the Marriott Grand Ballroom had also hosted the 50th “Gabi ng Parangal” Anvil Awards in May.

Boasting six VIP sky boxes and a main 3,000 square meter pillarless ballroom that can easily accommodate 4,000 guests for concert events and 2,500 guests for banquet set-up, this first of its kind facility is targeted at the Philippine MICE industry and is an important addition to RWM’s sprawling 14-hectare integrated resort in Newport City.

With the largest MICE facility in the country, RWM is also expected to have an influx of both local and foreign guests in the coming months as the integrated resort continues its Phase 3 expansion projects including two new hotel brands in its property, Hilton Manila Hotel and Sheraton Hotel Manila set to open by 2017.

“With Marriott Grand Ballroom, the largest hotel ballroom in the country now operational, we intend to capture a significant share of the MICE market,” said RWM Chief Operating Officer Stephen Reilly.

Also part of its Phase 2 expansion plan is the Marriott West Wing a 10-storey annex to the Marriott Hotel Manila with approximately 3,000 sq. m. which is expected to add 227 rooms across approximately 31,000 sq. m. of built-up space.
