If you’re looking for an innovative cable solution for your charging woes and find that a completely reversible microUSB cable still not groundbreaking enough for you, then maybe the magnetic cable called Znaps will fit the bill.
The company behind Znaps, which also bears the same name as their first brainchild, takes inspiration from the Apple MagSafe and applied the same principle on their fancy USB connector.
Znaps consists of two main components: a miniscule connector with microUSB or Lightning tip and a small adapter that acts as bridge between the connector and a standard MicroUSB/Lightning cable using magnet. The latter also has an LED light that indicates the charging state of the device.
The connector is specifically designed to be inconspicuous so it can be left attached to the smartphone. It is also engineered to play nicely with various smartphone covers, hence eliminating the need to remove the case during charging.
Like the MagSafe, the whole idea behind Znaps is to make it easier to attach a charger to a smartphone regardless of the orientation of the cable. Furthermore, this implementation acts as a breakaway that prevents the handset from being dragged with the cable is pulled.
Znaps had just recently put up a campaign on Kickstarter, yet they have already exceeded their CAD120,000 (Canadian dollars) funding goal by almost six folds. If you’re interested to support the project, make sure to check out their Kickstarter page on the link below.
