Kia Motors global sales down by 2.0% in January

Kia Motors Corporation announced its January 2015 global sales figures (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants) for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 212,327 units sold. This figure represents a 2.0% year-on-year decrease compared to the same month of 2014.

In January, Kia posted year-on-year sales increases in the domestic Korea market (8.2% growth with 36,802 units sold) and North America (2.7% growth with 42,003 units sold), while Europe*, general markets* and China experienced year-on-year decreases in January of 3.8% (37,588 units sold), 5.6% (37,934 units sold) and 7.1% (58,000 units sold), respectively.

Kia’s bestselling model in overseas markets during January 2015 was the C-segment Cerato (known as ‘Forte’ or ‘K3′ in some markets) with 34,435 units sold. The B-segment Rio (known as ‘K2′ in China) was the second best seller with 24,205 units sold, while the Sportage compact CUV, Optima D-segment sedan and mid-size Sorento CUV followed with 29,432, 15,348 and 13,358 units sold, respectively.
