iPhone 6S could not recieve Force Touch feature, only 6S Plus

Remember that article about a possible Force Touch feature to be seen on the next iPhone variants? Well it seems like the iPhone 6S Plus is the only one getting it according to recent rumors.

A report citing industry insiders familiar with the operations said that there will be a supplier of Force Touch sensors designed for the iPhone 6S Plus with no mention of making its way into the smaller iPhone 6S. This is not unlikely since there are also certain features of the current iPhone 6 Plus that isn’t seen on the iPhone 6 like optical image stabilization and landscape mode of the OS.

Again, for those unfamiliar, the Force Touch technology is a new way of sensing the pressure of the touch input giving users the flexibility to do different things just by the amount of pressure made on the display. This has been utilized by the Apple Watch but since it only has a a display of less than 2 inches diagonally, carrying it over to the 6S Plus’ 5.5-inch screen would reportedly cost 2.5 times more expensive than the sensor on the watch.

As of now none of this has been confirmed, but if it does it’s something that could set this upcoming flagship apart from its competition — for a higher price tag, maybe?

iPhone 6S will reportedly have 2GB RAM and Apple SIM

It’s been reported that the next iteration of the iPhone (most likely called the iPhone 6S) and the bigger iPhone Plus would have double the RAM than their current versions. They are also reported to ship with an included Apple SIM.

A person familiar with Apple’s future plans and have previously provided reliable information indicated to AppleInsider that the next batch of iPhones will have 2GB RAM. This could make the handset perform better and faster while switching between apps, although it could suck more power from the battery. And if you’ve been an iPhone user then you know how battery life is a prevailing issue. Hopefully Apple will also improve the battery efficiency of their upcoming iPhones.

In addition to the double RAM installed, the next iPhones could also ship with an Apple SIM included. It has been previously implemented on the iPad Air 2 and now the company could be considering having it pre-installed with the handsets. For the unfamiliar, having an Apple SIM lets users sign up for mobile data plans from any participating carrier. They could do so without having the need to go to carrier stores, but by simply going to their Settings app and enrolling without long term contracts. Users could also switch to different providers at any time, although we strongly doubt that it would be implemented here.

As for the bigger RAM, will you be ditching your current iPhones for it? Stay tuned as we wait for other news on the next Apple smartphone.

iPhone 6S reports suggest double the RAM and better CPU

A new batch of alleged improvements are reported to come to the next flagship for Apple. It was mentioned that the iPhone 6S/7 could have double the RAM and better processing power than the current iPhone 6.

Taiwanese site TechNews states that the Cupertino company will finally bring 2GB of RAM to the next iPhone rather than the 1GB RAM seen on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Not only that, they will also reportedly use LPDDR4 RAM modules and do away with the current LPDDR3. These modules were said to be supplied by Hynix, Samsung, and Micron-Elpida.

Moreover, new iPhones are also rumored to have better processing power than what the 6 and 6 Plus have right now. If these allegations push through, we could be seeing a new A9 CPU replacing the A8 processors seen in current models. These reports go on top of the previous ones about the iPhone 6S having dual-camera lens and a “Force Touch” technology which can tell if you’re just tapping or pressing hard on the screen.

So far that’s all the info we have for now regarding the next iPhone. Be sure to keep it locked here to keep tabs on the possible updates on Apple’s next flagship.

iPhone 6S to have dual-lens camera, 3D pressure sensor?

Sources from a supply chain are claiming that the next iPhone (either 6S or 7) will be coming this year with new features like a dual-lens camera and 3D pressure sensor. What do they do? Find out after the break.

It’s pretty much safe to say that Apple is going to launch a new iPhone model this year since this has been the norm for smartphone manufacturers (even more for some). As for Apple, the new iPhone could have the following fresh functionalities:

  • Dual lens camera – this will make it possible for the phone to use optical image stabilization instead of just digital image stabilization, resulting to better image quality since more light is received by the sensor.
  • 3D pressure sensor – similar to Apple Watch’s Force Touch technology that senses how hard you press the screen, making it possible to add more functions in navigation.
  • 32GB minimum storage – If the leak proves true, Apple will be bringing back the 32GB storage and will become the lowest available in the market.

In addition, the company will allegedly stick with the current offering for its display sizes of 4.7- and 5.5-inch options.

These improvements seem promising enough to look forward to, especially the pressure sensor. If there are things that you’d wish would make it to the next iPhone, what would they be?
