Apple iPhone 6 – Here’s what to expect

Lazada Philippines

Apple’s iPhone 6 could very well make its official appearance this September 9 (September 10 at 1am in the Philippines). The company only announced an event and nothing more – leaving all their fans wondering in the dark. But we’re betting that the much-awaited iPhone will be one of the main highlights. Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect.

So there will be two iPhones?

In terms of size, it’s probably not fresh news for most that the upcoming iPhone might come in two variations – a 4.7-inch variant and a 5.5-inch phablet. Arrival of the latter was initially rumored to be postponed for a month or so due to production delays, but some reports point to just one launch event for both devices. Oh and one more thing – the phablet could be called the iPhone 6L.

New look?

If rumors prove true, cornered edges would be a thing of the past for the iPhone. Renders and so-called leaked photos show rounded edges with thin bezels. The present Sleep/Wake button up top is also shown to be moved to the upper right side which is supposed to help when using the device with one hand.

Some detailed videos also show the alleged iPhone 6.

Sapphire or no sapphire?

iphone6_sapphire

After the implementation of sapphire (a material second hardest to diamond) on iPhone 5S’ fingerprint scanner and lens cover to avoid scratches, the next logical step is to go for full-on display reinforcement. Although this could potentially be good news there are recent reports saying that using sapphire for the entire display is going to be costly in addition to other factors. This leads to one analyst predicting that only the 64GB variant will get this tough glass as a way to test the waters for future iPhones.

What’s inside?

iphone6_internal

The current iPhone 5S already runs on an A7 processor so we’re expecting something along the lines of a 64-bit A8 processor for the iPhone 6 when it comes out. In the memory department we’re looking at 1 or 2GB with internal storage going up to 128GB.

iOS 8?

ios_8

With the introduction of iOS8 last June we’re almost entirely sure that the next iPhone will function primarily on it. It should carry all the new features like Wi-Fi calling and new messaging options. The new OS is also packed with health-tracking apps that should go hand-in-hand with the phone’s new sensors.

What else can it do?

As we’ve reported before one of the new sensors that the new iPhone could sport is a barometric sensor that measures altitude and even weather by collecting air pressure data. Health sensors are also present as we’ve mentioned earlier to go with apps that monitor the user’s heart rate, among other things. In addition, NFC could now be supported by an Apple device. This is supposedly aimed for transactions and as a way of payment.

Longer battery life, please!

Yes, they seem to have heard all the plea from iPhone owners regarding battery life since word on the street is that the 4.7-inch iPhone will come with a larger 2,100mAh battery while the 5.5-inch variant will carry 2,915mAh worth of juice. In comparison, the iPhone 5S is presently at 1560mAh. Hopefully they also partner this with a more efficient processing technique to further lengthen the life of the smartphone.

Gold iPhone 6

Even before it gets launched, a 24-karat gold iPhone 6 is now up for pre-orders!

How much?

We could all only guess how much it will be at this point but an educated presumption would be for the iPhone 6 (the 4.7-inch version, at least) to start relatively close to the price tags of other flagships today. This is in order to position itself competitively for buyers, while the larger iPhone could cost $100 more.

That’s about it for now! We will be bringing you more info on it as soon as it becomes official. Stay tuned!

iPhone 6 could launch earlier than expected, retail after a week

After being reported that Apple’s iPhone 6 will arrive during the last week of September, new information has emerged saying that we could be seeing it as early as the first week of said month. It would then be available for delivery a little more than a week after its launch.

MacRumors reports that mass delivery of the next flagship phone would ship to America during the last two weeks of August, making it available for announcement on the first or second week of September. Roughly a week and a half after its announcement, the first batch of deliveries will then begin.

The iPhone 6 is the next biggest thing to look forward to after almost all of Android’s biggest flagships have already been announced. We’re expecting bigger displays, faster processor, improved camera, and a refreshed form factor when it arrives.

Speaking of form factor, here are some more of what we can expect with Apple’s new design for the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 releases September with 4.7” and 5.5” displays?

Reports state that the anticipated iPhone 6 will arrive this September and is ‘likely’ to be offered in 4.7- and 5.5-inch variations. They also added that LCD panels would start mass production on Q2.

Japanese publication Nikkei says that Apple’s next iPhone might be larger than the current 5S, and that the displays will be made at Sharp’s factory in Japan as well as other places. This mass production of liquid crystal display panels will start as early as April-June, according to reports.

“Manufacturers have apparently begun making such components as fingerprint sensors and chips for liquid-crystal drivers.”

In addition, LG Electronics will also join in and supply panels for Apple and these displays are anticipated to deliver significantly higher resolutions than the current models.

As a refresher, the iPhone 5S carries a 4-inch IPS LCD display at 640 x 1136 resolution with a pixel density of 326ppi. It’s safe to expect that we would see something better from the iPhone this year – in terms of display, at least.
