Globe intros Data Rollover and Data Sharing for Postpaid Plans

Globe has introduced two new features for their postpaid plans, allowing subscribers to have more control over their monthly data allowances – Data Rollover and Data Sharing.

First up is Data Rollover which adds your left-over data to your next month’s data allowance. For example, if you used 2GB of your 3GB data allowance this month, the 1GB left-over will be added to your next month’s allowance, giving you a total of 4GB. Check out other details below:

• Data Rollover has no extra charge.
• Rolled over data allowance will be consumed first on the following month.
• All remaining rolled-over data will be forfeited on the second month if not used.

Next is Data Sharing, which, as the name of the feature suggests, lets you share your data to other mobile numbers or devices as long as it’s under the same postpaid plan account. See other details below:

• Data consumption is on a first-come, first-served basis.
• All remaining data allowance will roll over to the next month.
• Data sharing is available for mobile numbers under the same myLifestyle Plan account only.
• Php100 monthly share fee applies per SIM or device.

The new Data Rolling and Data Sharing features are available through Globe’s myLifestyle and Platinum Plans.

PLDT taps NTT Com for 100Gbps ultra-bandwidth connectivity

PLDT has annoucned that it has parternered with NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation, the largest telecommunications company in Japan, to boost its global network infrastructure using the 100Gbps connectivity.

The 100Gbps (gigabit-per-second) “ultra-bandwidth” connectivity will be powered by NTT Com’s Tier 1 Global IP backbone, which is expected to help PLDT carry large volumes of global IP traffic. It will also help the company handle traffic bursts and scale-up faster to accommodate subscriber demands.

“Higher speeds translate to faster data transmission and thus, improve efficiencies for PLDT and its customers,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of PLDT. “Coupled with PLDT’s initiatives to expand and upgrade its access and transport networks, this network infrastructure enhancement will definitely help PLDT improve internet services in the Philippines.”

“We believe the enhanced connectivity for PLDT will largely increase its capacity in handling the anticipated massive explosion of data driven by the rise of disruptive technologies such as Cloud, Big Data, IoT and video streaming,” said Mr. Hideaki Ozaki, President and CEO of NTT Com Asia Limited.

Top Gear PH to be Sued for Cyber-Bullying

Local Top Gear Philippines has been in the spotlight in the last couple of days after posting the Facebook profile of a suspected shooter which turned out was a simple mistaken identify. However, damage has been done and the victim has been on the receiving end of death threats and ridicule, prompting him to deactivate his FB account.

Nestor Punzalan has been wrongly identified as the person who shot a biker Mark Vincent Garalde in a recent roadside altercation that resulted into a murder incident. With close to 3 million Facebook fans, Top Gear Philippines was closely monitoring and promoting news and updates about the incident. However, the information they were passing around turned out to be false.

Top Gear PH was not the first one to report the wrong conduction sticker which led them to report the wrong person associated with the wrong information. However, they were the one who linked to Punzalan’s Facebook page that prompted people to mob him on FB.

Nestor came to the NBI and his name has been cleared. The real suspect has now been identified. Vernon Sarne, Editor of Top Gear PH, said this through a comment on their Facebook Page:

“I was responsible for posting the photo of Mr. Punzalan’s vehicle, and I realize now that I shouldn’t have done so. I accept full responsibility. This is all on me. I will do my best to reach out to Mr. Punzalan and personally apologize to him and his family. The buck stops here. This is all my fault…”

However, Punzalan replied in a report done on 24 Oras, GMA:

“Di pwede yung sorry-sorry na lang. Grabe ang ginawa nila, dapat silang managot.”

Their side is now moving towards filing a case on through the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
