As you can see below, all phones share the same screen resolution, CPU and GPU; the rest, they all go on their separate ways.

Strengths & weaknesses are quantitative.

Here are some details you should take note of:

The HTC One

  • no longer has optical image stabilization unlike last year’s model.
  • has a high resolution 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
  • is the only one with two cameras on the back.
  • is the thickest phone.
  • has the smallest battery capacity.
  • is the only device not resistant to water.

The Samsung Galaxy S5

  • has the highest CPU clock speed despite the similar CPUs.
  • is the lightest phone of the bunch, being plastic.
  • is the thinnest phone of the three.
  • is the only phone with a fingerprint sensor and a heart rate monitor.

The Sony Xperia Z2

  • has the largest screen, but only by a small mark.
  • has the largest battery.
  • has 3GB RAM.
  • has the camera with the highest resolution at 20.7MP.

With all of these details, which flagship phone are you getting? If you’re not set for any of the devices just yet, no need to worry as there are many more choices coming out soon – LG’s, Apple’s, Google’s and even Oppo’s already announced Find 7. HTC One 2014 (M8) now official!

Following lots of leaked details, photos and videos, the All New HTC One finally gets announced and is set to kill with a curvier aluminum design, a set of improved cameras and a huge bump in the hardware department in almost every way.

The screen is now larger at 5-inches and features on-screen buttons, dropping the confusing capacitive button layout on last year’s One. The resolution is still at 1080 x 1920 but a lot won’t seem to mind as 2K displays aren’t even a norm yet.

There are three cameras on the HTC One; there is a five megapixel “selfie” camera up front and there are two cameras on the back – one of the 4 megapixel UltraPixel kind and one with a resolution of 2 megapixels, both designed for capturing the correct details and depths of the photos.

This year’s HTC One is rocking a Snapdragon 801 CPU packed with 2GB RAM and is powered by a larger 2,600mAh battery that the company claims can last 40% more than the first one. On the software side of things, KitKat runs the show with HTC’s Sixth Sense, offering themes, more colors and much more refined design elements that can be seen in their apps such as BlinkFeed, the camera & more.

In addition to all of that, the BoomSound speakers are also facing an upgrade, now being able to go 25% louder. Also, for the memory enthusiasts, HTC adds a micro SD card slot which is nice to have and a neat looking dotted case for the time and weather.

All new HTC One leaks hands-on video before launch

Just before being announced to the public, a leaked hands-on video of the new HTC One (M8) showed every side of the new flagship device and even demoed a run-through of its Sense 6.6 UI atop KitKat.

This 12-minute video was apparently recorded last month but was only released last Sunday. According to the source, the original video was taken down but a copy has managed to stay online. The hands-on look at the new HTC One was neither clear nor structured (but we’re still thankful!) and we’ve only managed to gather few hard facts regarding its specs. Here’s the video:

Recap of the video for the all new HTC One:

Similar physique as its predecessor
Bigger screen size
Dual rear cameras
Different flash (looks dual flash)
Headphones moved to the bottom
Sensor moved beside front camera
Absence of physical buttons
Now has microSD expansion
Runs Sense 6.6 on top of KitKat
Beats Music app
“It has really nice cameras”

Although not everything was discussed in detail, at least we’ve seen it in action, held by someone, and not just in pictures. Also, it’s just a few more weeks until March 25 comes and the new flagship gets official.
