HTC One M9 advantages:

  • 1080p resolution (for those who argue we don’t need anything higher)
  • Expandable memory
  • Higher resolution rear camera
  • Larger battery
  • BoomSound speakers

Right now, we really can’t decide which is better at performance, which has a better camera or even which wins at price, so we’ll have to wait and see until we get our hands on these two devices.

Until then, we’ll leave it to you to decide! Stay tuned for more coverage.

Image leak: HTC to reveal two flagship One M9s soon?

Evan Blass, formerly @evleaks, tweets an image of HTC flagship phones from before with two new unseen smartphones, most likely the new HTC One M9s.

HTC One M9

The most surprising part here is that there is a variant with a physical home button that is rumored to be a fingerprint scanner (One M9 Ultra). We’re also still not sure if they’re going to release it in major markets such as the US, so we’ll just have to wait for the official announcement.

Based on the image above, you can see that the design has not changed that much; the only major difference is that the BoomSound speakers are no longer seen immediately and that the front-facing camera is now centered and more highlighted like the Desire Eye. HTC also looks like they’re keeping the same screen size while reducing the bezel, making the device more compact.

The HTC One M9 is expected to have a Snapdragon 810 CPU and a much improved 20 megapixel camera that replaces the heavily criticized UltraPixel cameras on the previous models.

Bend tests: iPhone 6, HTC One & more, case helps 6 Plus

Lazada Philippines

The iPhone 6 Plus caused a lot of noise because of its bending issue, resulting in more bend tests to see if other flagship phones have this issue as well and if a case can actually solve the problem.

iPhone 6 Plus

From the same person who brought you the viral bend videos, Unbox Therapy bends the iPhone 6, the HTC One, the new Moto X, the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the iPhone 5S.

Here are the results:

  • The iPhone 6 bends, but not as much as the 6 Plus.
  • The HTC One’s screen lifts up slightly.
  • The new Moto X is claimed to not even creak.
  • The Nokia Lumia 1020 creaks, but solid for the most part.
  • The iPhone 5S is hard to bend as well.

To add to everything, YouTuber Jonathan Morrison also tries to bend the iPhone 6 Plus once again – but this time to try out if a case actually solves the problem. Spoiler? It doesn’t solve it, but it helps a lot. Check that video out down below:

To conclude, the thinness & the size of the phone are the biggest factors in determining if the phone will be bending easily. You can add a case, but the majority of it really does depend on the build quality.

You can check out our initial story of the iPhone 6 & Note 3 bending, and we also have our iPhone 6 review up here.

What happens when an HTC One gets run over by a bus?

So my friend has a 2013 HTC One and while she was walking the streets of Singapore yesterday, she accidentally dropped her phone. Now I’m pretty sure most of us, if not all, have experienced that argh! feeling when you drop your phone, but it gets worse. What’s that sound approaching before she even gets the chance to pick it up? A bus.

The photo above is what’s left of the phone. Unsurprisingly, the screen is all cracked up but what’s interesting is that except for the now-textured display, everything seems to be normal. What’s more interesting is she could still use it to communicate and even Instagram the photo after her friend sent her the picture. She only mentioned that the letters were a bit hard to see through the ‘patterns’ while she’s typing.

Too bad this doesn’t qualify for the HTC Advantage that replaces cracked screens for free, but at least everything else appears to be working fine. She’s yet to have her phone serviced.

After hearing the story her friends all wanted to get an HTC One.

HTC One 2014 (M8) now official!

Following lots of leaked details, photos and videos, the All New HTC One finally gets announced and is set to kill with a curvier aluminum design, a set of improved cameras and a huge bump in the hardware department in almost every way.

HTC ONE m8

The screen is now larger at 5-inches and features on-screen buttons, dropping the confusing capacitive button layout on last year’s One. The resolution is still at 1080 x 1920 but a lot won’t seem to mind as 2K displays aren’t even a norm yet.

There are three cameras on the HTC One; there is a five megapixel “selfie” camera up front and there are two cameras on the back – one of the 4 megapixel UltraPixel kind and one with a resolution of 2 megapixels, both designed for capturing the correct details and depths of the photos.

This year’s HTC One is rocking a Snapdragon 801 CPU packed with 2GB RAM and is powered by a larger 2,600mAh battery that the company claims can last 40% more than the first one. On the software side of things, KitKat runs the show with HTC’s Sixth Sense, offering themes, more colors and much more refined design elements that can be seen in their apps such as BlinkFeed, the camera & more.

In addition to all of that, the BoomSound speakers are also facing an upgrade, now being able to go 25% louder. Also, for the memory enthusiasts, HTC adds a micro SD card slot which is nice to have and a neat looking dotted case for the time and weather.
