Parañaque, Philippines – Honda Philippines has recently announced the arrival of the ninth iteration of their popular four-door Sedan, the Honda Accord 2014.
Instead of three, the new mid-sized sedan will only be available locally in two models; the Honda Accord 2.4 S (5-speed) which has a 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder engine and the Honda Accord 3.5 SV (6-speed) which runs on 3.5-liter, 24-valve SOHC V6 engine.
Both models are equipped with Paddle Shifters and utilizes Honda’s homebrew fuel-injection technology called Earth-Dreams which increases fuel efficiency by up to 10% (5% on 2.4L). Furthermore, the two models uses MacPherson struts on the front instead of double wishbone suspensions found on its predecessor.
The new Honda Accord sport an elegantly-crafted exterior that’s aerodynamically designed to reduce drag which further lessens the car’s fuel consumption. It also has a new set of LED dual-projector type headlights to go along with its power-folding, hydrophilic side mirrors with signal lights.
Before we get to the interior, it’s worth noting that the Accord’s trunk is VERY SPACIOUS which gives the sedan a relatively wide rear end. How spacious, you might ask? Well, the folks over at Auto Freaks were able to fit two grown-ass men inside it and it’s not even a tight fit.
As you would expect from a family car, the Honda Accord’s interior is roomy. There’s ample legroom both on the front and at the back, and the two seats at the front can be adjusted electronically.
In addition to the typical dashboard, the Honda Accord features a geeked-out command center which comprises of a touchscreen panel for the sound, and another 8-inch WVGA screen called i-MID (intelligent Multi-Informational Display) at the top which displays various information like Call History and a view of the driver’s blindside through the car’s Reverse Camera.
But what really blew me away was the Accord’s Noise Cancellation feature. The technology works similarly to those found on headphones with ANC, wherein the car detects external noise using the four microphones inside the car and accordingly emits a high-frequency tune to cancel it out.
Other notable interior features include Bluetooth support, integrated navigation system, wheel-mounted audio controls, Key-less Entry and rear AC vents.
The new Honda Accord will be available in four colors (Modern Steel Metallic, White Orchid Pearl (additional Php20,000), Crystal Black Pearl and Carnelian Red Pearl) plus Alabaster Silver Metallic which is only limited to the 2.4 S model.
The Honda Accord 3.5 SV (6-speed A/T with Paddle Shifters) costs Php2,097,000 while the 2.4 S (5-speed A/T with Paddle Shifters) retails for Php1,720,000.
