Android M Dev Preview now available for Xperia phones

Google recently announced the developer preview for its upcoming Android M software and with that, we already have the first group of devices that were able to try it out. This time, a bunch of Sony Xperia phones take a go at the new update. We have the list of eligible devices after the break.

  • Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet

It’s important to note that the build is purposed for developers and testing out apps, meaning your phone needs to have unlocked bootloaders for it to successfully work. Google to launch YouTube Gaming

Google announces that it will be bringing a new community for gamers through its YouTube Gaming.

YouTube Gaming is both an app and a website that focuses on the players’ needs and entertainment with more than 25,000 games having their own pages. From Asteroids to Zelda, the gaming community will be complete with instructional videos, streaming at 60fps, video recommendations, while users can also upload their own gameplay into the site easily.

There will also be indie and mainstream channels that you can subscribe to so that you get the latest news and updates from your favorite games.

Android M dev preview now available for selected devices

Some of us are still waiting for the availability of Android Lollipop, but Google already released the developer preview of the Android M.

The latest Android OS dev preview is now available for selected devices namely: Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. As for the final version, it’s reported to arrive during Q3 of this year.

Some of the improvements of Android M include:

  • Chrome Custom Tabs – for faster web browsing and a more intuitive user-experience
  • Fingerprint support – it now applies in making purchases for both online and offline transactions
  • Android Pay – works with any NFC-capable smartphone to make transactions easier and faster
  • Doze – uses motion detectors to determine if the user isn’t using the phone so it could go to ‘sleep’ and reduce background performances
  • Google Photos – standalone app that stores unlimited photos and videos as long as they don’t go over 16MP and 1080p resolutions
  • Improved Google Now
  • Faster Google Chrome
