The Philippine Google Play Store has been on a limited offering for quite some time, mostly listing apps and books. Just recently though, the Play Store have started listing Movies available for Philippine users.
The listing has about several thousand titles. Not much on the new titles but mostly archives from last year and much older ones.
Prices vary greatly, depending on how popular the movie is or how long they’ve been around. That means you could get “The Godfather” for as low as Php130 (to rent) or Php430 (to buy). Some titles are more expensive like The Hobbit which is Php170 (to rent) or Php560 (to buy).
Some movies are also available in SD or HD quality and they’re also priced differently, like Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit which costs Php650 for the SD version and Php860 for the HD.
At these prices, we don’t think people will bite. Perhaps some older titles could still be worth it.
