Pre-Ordering the Xbox One

While the Xbox One is still set for release in November, pre-orders are already up on the Microsoft site for some time. We’ve only made our pre-order this week after finally completing our GCash Amex membership and using it to pay for the purchase.

The pre-order price of the Xbox One alone is $499.99 but there’s an additional $45 California state tax which makes it a total of $544.99.

(Just go to xboxone.microsoftstore.com and click on the Pre-Order button. Fill up your shipping address, the one provided by GCash AMEX via MyShoppingBox, and once prompted for payment select AMEX. The CVV code can be obtained via the GCash app in your iPhone or by dialing *143#)

The GCash Amex Card provided me with a US shipping address along with the Virtual US credit card. I just made sure I had enough funds in my GCash account so that once I make the purchase, the funds are auto-deducted from there.

After the transaction, My Shopping Box (the forwarding courier) will receive the item in their US address, ship it to the Philippines (you get to pick air or sea shipment) with the corresponding fees which is just under $6 per pound or a fraction thereof ($8.50 for electronics).

While there are several ways to pay for the XBox One, we thought GCash AMEX made the transaction simpler. It provided the legit US address, a recognizable US credit card with no additional card charges.

We’ll have to see how it goes once shipment starts in November. You can check out more details of the GCash Virtual Pay here.

Disclosure: I used an old GCash account which was pre-loadad by Globe with some amount over 3 years ago. They also sent additional funds to the account and I used online banking (via my Secutiy Bank ATM) to add more money into the pool for the purchase.
