We received over 5,000 votes in our recent camera blind test between the iPhone 6S Plus and the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
There were a total of 9 different scenes ranging from low light to high dynamic range and these are the results of the blind tests:
For reference, Camera A is the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ while Camera B is the iPhone 6S Plus.
Close-up, outdoors: The iPhone 6S Plus had a slight edge over the Galaxy S6 Edge+ with 54% of the votes or 8% difference.
Outdoors, garden: The Galaxy S6 Edge+ reversed the score and got 54% vs. the 46% of the iPhone 6S. This puts the two handsets at a statistical tie in general outdoors scenery.
Skyline and Skyscrapers: On both scenarios where we took photos of the sky, the iPhone 6S Plus managed to pull away from the Galaxy S6 Edge+ with as much as 82% of the votes.
Macro Shot: The S6 Edge Plus got higher votes of 63% compared to the 37% of the iPhone 6S Plus.
Dynamic range: The Galaxy S6 Edge+ took 3 out of every 5 votes (or 60%) in this poll as it showed better dynamic range.
Indoor, low-light shot: The Galaxy S6 Edge+ was slightly preferred at 56% over the 44% of the iPhone 6S Plus.
Dark, low-light: In much darker scenarios, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ won over the iPhone 6S Plus with a huge 38% margin.
HD Video Recording: With video recording, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ took a huge margin over the iPhone 6S Plus with 79% of the votes.
Over-all Winner: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
In almost all of the scenarios we tested, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ was the preferred camera of our readers.
Where the iPhone 6S Plus had a huge advantage is when taking photos which included the sky. The two camera phones were statistically tied when it comes to general outdoors scenes.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ bested the iPhone 6S Plus in the high dynamic range scene, low-light scenes and HD video recording.
